I'm making bacon. Anyone else make their own food or drink stuff?

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Chutney, jam, bread, cake.

I used to brew wine from kits, but they gave me appalling hangovers. The ginger beer exploded.

Been brewing a fair bit of apple juice, with a bit of sugar and a bit of yeast.

But...

What is the difference between apple wine, and cider? I honestly have no idea.

Turned out to be about 8% alcohol, and it is absolutely delicious.

I'm doing the same at the moment and looked this up today ha ha
Anything up to 8.5% alcohol is cider and anything higher is wine.

Well, more by luck than judgment, my cider, wine, and beer are all ready at the same time to bottle.

I like the DIY airlocks 👍
I currently have two batches of cider on the go and had some nice bacon for breakfast that I smoked yesterday.
Thinking to make some pineapple wine this week as they are relatively cheap at the moment and also some smoked liver chicken paté.

It's day 2 of bacon curing here at Tubthumper Towers. My venture into the world of making my own bacon. The big day is Saturday when it will be unpacked and sampled.

I know of one other bacon maker, who has been helpful with some tips, and a beer brewer. Anyone else make stuff?
British couple in Germany make British-style bacon. Well worth a try. https://www.britishbacon.de/

Took the tip from someone earlier on in this thread, and tried using Corn Flakes instead of breadcrumbs to bake some chicken wings in.

When I say Corn Flakes, all I had was Honey Nut Corn Flakes.

Ran them through the Spong 601, and covered the wings with them and baked them.

Bloody awful. :(
