A good friend of mine is leaving Brighton on saturday so I'm cooking for her and a couple of others. The main course is decided, she loves bangers and mash so I'm doing that. I just need a starter and a PUD now. Ideally the starter will be more a selection of posh finger foods like anchovies and that. Does anyone have any little amuse bouche that I might not know of that are JUST WONDERFUL? It would help if they are very simple too as I've not got a lot of time to prepare. I like olives and that's a bit of a cop out i think.

I'll probably just serve some posh ice cream like that Gu stuff for pudding.

If you're doing a heavy main course like bangers, how about something fishy for starters? Stir fry some raw gambas with salt, garlic, chilli and add lemon juice at the end. Quick and light. If you have more time (not much needed) Thai crab cakes are bloody quick to make and cook. Stunning with dipping sauce.

I've narrowed in on caramelised pineapple with vanilla ice cream for pudding. I was thinking of doing some bananas too so i could flambe with rum but I don't think banana and pineapple like eachother, do they?

My dad keeps on cooking this incredibly fattening dessert with bananas flambed with rum and banana liquor with lots of butter and sugar. i'd try that

Yeah I could do but I can't be arsed with pudding anymore, just gonna by summat. You can't go wrong with chocolate sponge with chocolate sauce and ice cream can you.

NO.

Ooooh halloumi, great idea. Got too many started already though! Though I might have that instead of chorizo. Yes! I will.

BAMMO, I would definitely go with the Halloumi idea.
