Several times, I think! I believe, though, that there is a special dispensation for rappers to say it without being called racist. Funny old world ....................

Crap bit of background music all round though - better with the sound off for more than that one reason!
Lots of N words and b@tches all the way through it. Which is nice. For a footy vid.

What happened to the usual hard-core euro techno?

I would like to think that everybody was sick and tired of it, and had decided never to play ut again. I can dream .......................

I tell you what though, he looks like a Moises/Webster hybrid and VERY different to Colwill. It's a surprise. Be interesting to see if his aggression on the ball ls coached out of him a little or actually if that is what RDZ wants.
Potentially the second set of friendlies we witness with “JULIO, JULIO” screamed for a full 45!

He does look very Caicedo/Webster hybrid though doesn't he! Just watched six odd minutes of him timing his tackles and also motoring forward. I'm fairly impressed but I'm easily pleased. However.....
How many tackles does he mistime and gives away free kicks. They don't show that on a highlights reel

Only by people that are either sheep or music snobs. It is ok not to like his music or his voice or whatever, but to say he is a bad musician is just ignorant. the songs that get played on the radio are not the extent of his work by a long way.
That's me told!

Edit: and I never said he's a bad musician. In fact I have seen him twice live, playing with Genesis at Brighton Dome. He was a crackling little drummer.

Big question about Julio is - is he an algorithm purchase or a De zerbi present?

I can see RDZ buying into the algorithm way of doing things big time, especially after seeing what it's come up with already. He'll have his gut feelings about players and when the algorithm chucks up 2 or 3 names for the position he's after he'll then go away and study them like mad and make a decision.

Couple of concerns about form last year but if he was smashing it then we wouldn't of got him.
Exactly. This is pure Moneyball. A ton of peeps reckon it doesn't work with soccerball but we've proved them wrong and will continue to do so. Find value in players that have been demonstrably capable but fallen out of favour for opinionated reasons. The opinions are usually wrong. The stats don't lie and this guy hits all the right buttons. It's obvious this is the Colwill replacement given how left footed he is in the youtube vids.

Some (last) season stats to compare with Webster (competition for place in the XI), Colwill (hopefully competition) and Bassey (as we were also linked with him). All stats are per 90 mins.

Looks like he doesn't lose possession much, but passing not as progressive (less likely to be forward or in the opp. half), but does like to ping a long ball.

Number of passes lower than the others, but that (as for most of the stats) can be attributed to the team's/coach's style to a arge degree.

Likes a tackle, concedes a few fouls and more likely to be booked...

As for any player, you can never really tell how their stats will hold up when playing in a different team, for a different manager and against opponents of different style and/or quality.

That's me told!
Sorry :)

I just don't get the hate, not just for Phil Collins but for any musician. There are far far more reasons to hate a person then writing some songs you may not like and that get over played on the radio. Musicains get rich by producing songs that people relate to or makes them feel happy.

No, he has never voted Tory or divorced wife via fax machine or any other made up tabloid nonsense that exists to stir up gossip and resentment.

Anyway this is derailing a thread on what looks like another great signing for the Albion.

A pedant writes:

-Enciso is a Spanish speaker therefore his name is pronounced "Hulio" (to an English speaker).

-Igor is a Portuguese speaker, so the first letter of Julio is more of a soft J, like the middle bit of "vision", for example. Just as Jose Mourinho is "zho-zay" rather than "ho-zay".

I'm still looking forward to an entire season of people (not limited to Warren Aspinall) referring to "Igor Hulio" though.

It will never work. Gus Poyet once explained his surname rhymed with courgette. Nobody took any notice.

There was an interview a while back where RDZ said that he had never come across a recruitment method like the one we were using, but he was so impressed by it, he let his recruitment specialist that he bought in with him go.

So

Interestingly Pedro/MD & Igor are all RDZ picks.

Seems that he is being backed, so can't complain. To be fair if Pedro and MD are examples of RDZ picks (i know it's only one freindly) but blimey he knows how to pick them. 🥰

Big question about Julio is - is he an algorithm purchase or a De zerbi present?

An 'RDZ pick' doesn't exist. He tells the recruitment team the position/skills he is seeking and they come up with a shortlist for him to review and then he's part of the team that decides who they go after, same as for the last few years. As RDZ frequently says "I am coach, no?"

The 0.4 cards per game is a little bit of a concern...

This is great news! Only seen the highlight reel, but I'm excited already. Especially so as recent history suggests we now have recruitment absolutely nailed.
