He would surely play if signed... but where? The defence is sorted IMHO...

Arsenal/Arsene likes his players to have some experience in the positions around them, maybe he's coming here for a seasons experience as a midfield destroyer.

Maybe Gus is going to convert him into a box to box midfielder !

IF it happened (and I think it's a massive if, despite the rumour gaining popularity) that's the only reason I could think of as Wenger surely won't allow another Hoyte where a player comes but doesn't play - and this lad is at another level in terms of skill on the ball.

That or we plan to sell a centre back ............? :fishing:

Gus has said the defence is done so not sure why this rumour persists TBH.

'Done' in so far as Gus is satisfied with it. That doesn't mean he'll ever NOT be interested if a BETTER player becomes available to him.

(Having never seen this guy play, I'm not personally saying that he IS better than Greer / Dunk / El Abd)

I suspect he will have a little more than Dunk, time to cash him in....

If it comes it will be a loan and if he is able to player in midfield too I think we should get him if available.

Quite. It's possible that Gus was "done" with our midfield before Vicente finally became available.

I don't understand why we would want to sign a young centre back for a midfield position. Or why we would need another young centre back at all. I can't see this deal happening at all and think that this paper talk is a few days late.

not so sure, Newcastle and Villa were alleged to be sniffing around Dunk last season and the court case verdict is pending, Maybe Gus really does want targets his budget can't quite afford, 2 mill for Dunk may help with acquisitions

Personally think that having players trained by Barcelona and Arsenal around the squad could be very useful for the likes of Dunk, Forster-Caskey etc.
Would be dissapointed if we had to sell what young talent we have.
Signings so far high in quality but they definatly increased the average age of the squad.
