we might need him as centre back cover if dunk is "unavailable" and el-abd gets some afro nations action in, plus he might be better coverage for bridge at left back than painter is? loans are good for adding depth although not sure arsenal would be too kean on sending a player out on loan if he's going to sit on the bench for most of the season
