I can understand it when paper tickets are involved as postage etc is factored in, but for sth it's just a case of uploading the game to our smart card.

Okay, maybe pay for the p+p then, but this is not £2.

There's no doubt a cost associated with administering via credit card. Probably not two quid's worth tho.

But there is a charge/cost with any credit card transaction. If you buy a shirt in the club shop via a card they do not slap on £2. Do you have to pay £2 to charge your smart card up? I cannot see a case.

The cost you refer to, is this the charge the card company make or the administrative cost of the club employees time, or both?

Either way it's inconsistent with other transactions I make with the club.

I'm 18, and paying 26 quid to watch Sunderland reserves is far too high imo, so i simply won't go, but presume it'll still be a good gate. Much rather save my wages for away league games, after all we won't win the Carling cup, and iv seen enough Premiership sides, the novelty very quickly wears off.

there is a rule coming in soon where companys can only charge you what it actually costs to process a payment (something like 29p ) none of this £2 shit

but i suppose they will just put ticket prices up slightly to compensate

Whilst I can understand the prices going up for various reasons and the club needs to keep making money, I just can't afford to go to 3 home games in the week after paying what I have for my season ticket already. I do, however, hope that everyone attending has a great time :)

The prices are the going rate for home games this season aren't they? I think we will still get a good crowd, Within 24 hours of the draw we had 36 people booked in on our coach. We are fairly confident we will sell out our 77 seater.

I am happy to pay. I paid nearly as much for the Spurs friendly. However, I would be annoyed if the club jacked up the prices further if we progress and play someone like Man U (who WOULD play a reserve team) in the next round. I don't think the club will do this.

I agree with other posters that £2 to electronically update your season ticket for a game doesn't seem right. I know it's not a huge amount of money but I can't see how it is justified,

Bit of a joke thread. You can't compare the average price you pay as a season ticket holder with cup prices, and as far as I can recall, it has never has never been done that way. This may only be round two but we are playing a premiership club. Had we got Macclesfield I suspect the prices would have been a lot lower.

Throw into the mix that the club has probably considered the prospect that this may be the last game we play in the Carling cup so are trying to maximise the revenue?

Seems a fair commercial decision the more i think about it.

We won't really know this until we see the gate on the night.

The price is a bit more than I was expecting but I'll still go.
I think the big shock for me and a lot of people is the difference between the price of this game and the cost per game with a STH (£28 vs £20). If you take the Man City game at Withdean as an example I'm sure the disparity was nowhere near as big as 40%. One reason for this is that we are probably paying L1 ST prices for Championship football. :moo:

Part of or maybe all of the £2 charge surely relates to the company we use for running our on-line ticketing system.

Quite. People talk about loyalty and being rewarded for it, and seem to ignore that the season ticket rewards us with what amounts to a discount on match tickets. Not to mention the 10% cashback on purchases when using the card. They have rewarded us.

You can't then compare the reduced league ticket price to regular picked tickets for cup games. I's not that you're being asked to pay £9 more for the sunderland game, it's that you are not getting a £9 discount for it.

That's a good point. Can't remember the exact figures, but remember being struck by the fact that a season ticket in the North Stand at the Amex is actually cheaper than it was in the South Stand last season. And the difference in facilities is WAY off the scale. So I for one am perfectly happy to pay the going rate for Cup games.
