Your all assuming he will want to stay with us if we go down.
And its our decision if we keep him.

He may have other irons in the fire and tell us to f*** off.

How can there be any question! if he keeps us up he will automatically reach messiah status in my book.
It's like a Hollywood film, takes a bunch of no hopers to the superbowl sort of thing......if you know what I mean.
The job should be his by royal decree.

In London village.
I'm already nervous about saturday, this game is HOOGE.

Slade has, at least, ensured that our interest should remain until the last game. All the games now are potentially massive .

Give him the contract now. He shows commitment to us and we show trust in him, players know who will be deciding on their futures in the summer which gives them the opportunity to impress and it saves the danger of him being poached for free by a league one club in the summer. I can't see what we loose really, I cannot see us being able to attract a better manager if we are in league two and he has a proven record in league one.

I think that there is no doubt he should get a contract if he keeps up. Given the injuries we have had it would not be far short of a miracle. I would be tempted to offer him a two year contract if he keeps us up but would understand the board not wanting to give another manager a long term deal (maybe a one year rolling contract).

Even if we go down, I have seen enough to suggest he is worth keeping although I would allow him to bring his own backroom staff in. If he, Booker and White all went, we would not appoint immediately and then the new manager has to come in and judge whether players deserve a new deal based on little evidence. Slade deserves a chance whichever league we are in.

would he actually want to stay? Hope so, offer him another year deal and see what he can do. Give him his own backroom staff, his own input into the transfers in and out of the club, and get some continuity and stability going about this club before it complete fucks up and we find ourselves non-league in a brand new stadium.

Deserves more than a years contract if he keeps us up.

what if it goes wrong after 6 months. We had Wilkins and Adams on long term deals, they both didnt last it out, and had to be compensated. If we offer Slade a long deal and it goes wrong, or he falls out with Knight, then we have another huge bill to foot, as well as finding another new manager.

League 2 has a salary cap too

what's struck me with Slade is that for the first time in ages, a majority of people on here seem to back him whereas since McGhee, support has been split.

Even if we go down, then he should be given a chance in League 2.

Agree, but I think for what you say to work he needs much longer than a one year deal to see what he can do. What if we don't do well? We just get rid of him and start again? I think we need to stick with one manager for a good 3-5 years at LEAST and build as a club- internally, externally (fan base) and with the stadium and squad.

If Slade keeps us up then he would have done a tremendous job, and would certainly 'deserve' a new contract from that point of view.

HOWEVER, i really don't think he's the future of BHAFC. Someone on here has said that he has a 'proven record at this level' or words to that effect? Has he really? One great season with Yeovil and then lower and mid-table after that. In my opinion he's a grinder who will take us to mid-table League One at best. We're aiming much higher than that and should definitely shop around in the Summer. It'd be harsh on Slade, but (as far as i know) he hasn't been promised anything and if he keeps us up there'll be plenty of interest and i'm sure he won't be out of work long.

Would he want the contract now? If he keeps us up he's in a much better negotiating position than he is now. If he keeps us up, maybe he would have the leverage to ask for his own staff, if he signs now, he wouldn't.
