Planning permission would be impossible though, wouldn't it?

Reconstruction of that rail bridge would be required.

There is also the small matter of the nature reserve behind the south stand.

Not an insumountable problem with traffic redirection.. and road barriers.

I am sure that if it comes to it on those issues alone the problems will be overcome.

Peace loving Withdean resident (squatter?), Mad John Catt would no doubt have an opinion on football-loving riff-raff invading his leafy manor.

He has only managed to cause minimal disruption so far just an annoyance really nothing serious that could really harm us.

I think there is name for people like him f.....g nuisance.

Withdean cannot be expanded beyond about 12,000 capacity.

In any event, we haven't got planning permission to stay there beyond the next few years.

And WE WON'T GET PLANNING PERMISSION TO STAY AT WITHDEAN PERMANENTLY. The Tories are supporting the Falmer project mainly because we have promised to leave Withdean - if we renege on that, they will back the people who want us out of North Brighton (ie the Tory voters who will ensure that Labour lose control of the City Council in May).

All this leads to the conclusion that THERE IS NO WORKABLE PLAN B.

If Kelly turns down Falmer, it might be that Sheepcote Valley could be worked up as an option - but the current Labour Council would almost certainly have a great deal of difficulty giving planning permission for Sheepcote Valley.

.

Exactly 12,000 more than enough for us in Div 1 or Div 2.

As the saying goes the most difficult thing is getting your foot in the door we have done that the rest would follow. with a minimal fight.

Just a personal opinion right or wrong.

I am told the vast majority of residents have no objection and say they have benefitted by the roads having been cleared of litter etc .

Still think Waterhall would be next best if not the best .. I know it dosent come in the general Brighton and Hove development plan north of bypass etc , but nor did the proposed park and ride and tarmacing of Braypool . If the council really wanted to help us they could by granting that .. (awaits flaming )

Agreed that it would be enough for our current position.

However, a capacity of 12,000 would speak volumes of the ambitions of the club. We would never be able to compete with bigger clubs in the Championship, never mind the Prem.

I'll take a flaming as well. I would love it if we were allowed Waterhall.

I think if you asked any fans for their ideal site Waterhall would come very high on the list.

On the other point does 22,500 show a great example of ambition to reach the premiership?

I suppose I'm comparing us with Pompey/Reading/Watford in that, whilst not ideal, 22,500 would just about be sustainable in the Prem. 12,000 wouldn't.

Especially with the OBSCENE amounts of cash on offer in the Prem from next year.

But Ed has just said that we would not get an extension to the stay at Withdean.

Are you suggesting that Ed doesnt know what he is talking about being an ex planning guy etc etc and you are with all due respect not

It's a total travesty the length of time this is all taking. Does anyone know how many other clubs have dreamt of, planned, built and finally played football in their new stadia whilst we've been getting dick-danced about?

Get LDC changed in May - at least the balance of power.

Then after Ruth says yep, there's no more challanges and we're off.

It's Falmer or bust guys.
