the question is, did SOMEONE at the club make a mistake somewhere to allow it to go on so long?

I'm not saying the LDC/Falmer Parish Council aren't to blame, I'm just wondering if somehow at one point, we accidently gave them a leg to stand on?

calling it "falmer" stadium rather than "east brighton" or "moulsecoomb" stadium was a rather big mistake

Also, perhaps we should have paid the Uni a bit more and had the coach park INSIDE the Brighton boundary.

We have lost FAR more than that original amount...I'm sure.

I would think that the answer is a 12,000 seater stadium at Withdean. More than sufficient to accomodate us outside of glory games.

The club have always maintained there is no Plan B. MP has said this repeatedly.

English planning law is not rational and Brighton and Hove is full of London incomers who care about Chelski, Arse, Wham etc. If Falmer is turned down to appease the nimbys, I'm afraid the club will go out of business and hopefully some of us will form AFC Brighton to play derby games against Horsham YMCA and Burgess Hill.
Wake me up before you go go , I'm your man , Freedom etc ........

Comments on John Prescott's letter of approval have to be in by February 15th 2007. Ruth Kelly will then write to all interested parties asking for comments - that's expected to be a six week period. After that period, Ruth Kelly makes her decision. It is expected around late spring / early summer. This year.

From there, there will be a period whereby those who are against the decision will get an opportunity to comment - again that's about six weeks.

Regarding calling the site 'Falmer' rather than 'East Brighton' or 'East Moulsecoomb', it was to do with funding of a university project. Not sure of all the details, but it's something like if another name was used, university or education money for the project wouldn't be applicable or forthcoming.

Probably because the 'toffs' at the uni would not want to be associated with either East Brighton (Whitehawk) or Moulscombe.

Not prestiguous enough name.

I have just been told by my sister in law that Durrington (Worthing) is now marketed as Lower Salvington.

Planning permission would be impossible though, wouldn't it?

Reconstruction of that rail bridge would be required.

There is also the small matter of the nature reserve behind the south stand.

And you need to add the likely result of the council election in Brighton and Hove.
