When I heard Gus had got the job, I thought: 'Brilliant!' I'm struggling to come up with a name that would provoke the same reaction now. Except the same one.

Most of the possible alternative appointments will seem a bit of a disappointment after Gus. Of all the names that have been mentioned, Rangnick is the only one I'd really welcome, but he has reiterated his commitment to his current job. Redknapp would be interesting - when isn't he - but I very much doubt that he and TB would have any common ground. Sherwood was very well thought-of at Tottenham, but the manager's job is different from anything he's done so far. He could be a very pleasant surprise, of course ...

I don't think Gus wants to be here so it is best if he moves on. I for one will no longer be watching the Albion if he is in charge.....until the season kicks off and the lure of the buxom slut that is Brighton tempts me back!

'Buxom slut' is great - maybe not as easy to sing as 'Seagulls', but could catch on if chanted by the North Stand.

On the relatively minor point of the manager, his other options are narrowing with every new vacancy that's filled. He may suddenly decide that here isn't where he wants to be but there isn't anywhere better that he can be.

I voted fence, as the options were presented. Were it a straight Poyet In / Out vote I'd vote Out.

I think the addition of the Trust Tony part to the first option and not the others has skewed the vote somewhat.

I voted fence for similar reasons, but more accurately I just want what the club wants and if they think it can be patched up then that's fine with me. I will always view Gus with a large dose of cynicism from now on though.

I think you may be viewing his appointment through rose tinted glasses. It was an interesting appointment, but like some of the possible candidates mentioned now, Gus had no experience as a manager and a couple of relatively unsuccessful stints as no 2.

If you count a League Cup win as "relatively unsuccessful ..."

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Gus was a hungry young manager, who had mixed experience as a number 2, some success, some failure. But that experience as a number two was something to look to for a sign of his potential (which is more than some of the managers being discussed now - anyone comparing him then to phil neville now are being incredibly generous to Neville).

But people's excitement over him coming in would have varied from person to person. Some will have seen his league failure at tottenham as a bad sign, some will have seen his league cup win at tottenham as a good sign. His time with Wise at leeds is hampered with points deductions, but they did well in their short time at swindon.

I personally took a wait and see view with him.

i am a poyet fan but the question How will you feel if the club and Poyet kiss and make up?......is irrelevant.

He is finished with us.All that remains is the method and terminology surrounding his departure.

I voted fence as like most people I hav'nt got a clue what's been going on at the club or what is going on behind the scenes, Whatever happens it needs to happen soon though as we're not that far away from pre season time again.

Without getting into speculation, if that is the case, then why not put him on gardening leave and announce his successor?

Presumably because certain processes have to be gone through like "we have suspended you for these reasons, you have 28 days to answer before we consider your position" , that kind of thing.

While we feel that randomness is an incredibly important aspect of Diablo games, we also agree that players need to feel like their next great item is just around the corner.

The FA usually charge and handle cases within a fortnight, not that I am saying this is similar.

If he was to go, I reckon we'd be looking at 3 or 4 years before we have another season as good as this, simply because of the required rebuillding job.

This is my concern too. I would preferred he stayed and finished the job.

BUT

He HAS to stop this seeming obsession with budgets. Yes, it is great that he/we can attract the likes of Bridge and Vicente to the club but if we cannot afford them, we cannot afford them. The academy is being built for him to bring on the youngsters and we need a manager who can take decent players and make them better, like he has done with El-Abd etc. He HAS to realise that we cannot and will not break the bank to achieve our goals. Managing our club is a challenge, a challenge that he seemed up for until recently. My concern is that he no longer has the will to see this "project" through.

these are good questions but these are also questions that the board are considering in their meetings,we are talking financial and legal consequences that result in millions of £,the board meeting last wednesday which took place in london and not the Amex will tell enough in itself how important it is for the club to get everything right in this matter

This is the salient point, as to why this is a realistic scenario. He will have to give some kind of reassurance to Barber/Bloom that he won't be off at the first job available, albeit the best we can hope for is probably a verbal agreement.
