When I heard Gus had got the job, I thought: 'Brilliant!' I'm struggling to come up with a name that would provoke the same reaction now. Except the same one.
Most of the possible alternative appointments will seem a bit of a disappointment after Gus. Of all the names that have been mentioned, Rangnick is the only one I'd really welcome, but he has reiterated his commitment to his current job. Redknapp would be interesting - when isn't he - but I very much doubt that he and TB would have any common ground. Sherwood was very well thought-of at Tottenham, but the manager's job is different from anything he's done so far. He could be a very pleasant surprise, of course ...
