If Harry goes to England

That's even more unlikely then.

It's pretty disruptive replacing a manager just before a major tournament, to replace him with someone facing criminal charges that could warrant a prison sentence would be plain dumb. I don't even think the bigwigs at the FA would be that stupid.[/QUOTE]

You make a good point but the last bit really?

Yeah sorry, don't know what I was thinking

I don't know if anyone else heard David Davies on Talksport last week but he gave an interesting insight into how the FA will go about selecting the next manager. In the real world the next manager would be appointed before the Euro's so he can 'shadow' the current setup ready for when he takes charge, but they don't like doing that as it causes problems & destabilises the squad during a major tournament. On the other hand they don't want to appoint after the Euro's as by then the clubs will be planning for the new season and they don't want to be upsetting one of their big clubs.

I've met DD before and he's a top bloke and although he's not in the FA anymore i'm sure he knows what's going on, so I took from that the next manager will be Stuart Pearce!

And tht was SUCH a success last time they did it - for McLaren

Manchester.
I think Poyet would be high on the list of alot of premier league teams, including Spurs and I think he would go to them!! they are a massive club and I dont think he would turn them down!!

Why would he go to spurs? Spurs will never win anything and they'll never play in the champions league again. will Gus really want to mange them knowing the only thing spurs can win is an europa league spot at best.

He still talks with affection about Chelski and looks first for their results.

May be their manager in about 3 managers time? (That'll be 9 months time then!).

I don't think Gus will manage another club in England, Chelsea are too unstable and he would hardly get a chance to build a team there, Spurs don't know if they are a big club or not and already axed him once, he would never get Man United or City so who else is there ? I think more likely if we do well and get into the Premiership it will be someone like Real Madrid that come calling and if we don't get into the Premiership then nobody will come calling.

Would Gus leave us for a Wigan or West Brom team ? I doubt it and the big teams seem to want tried and tested managers who have won Cups and Leagues not a championship manager.

The thought of Stuart Pierce managing England fills me with dread although he has done a great job killing any creativity or the risk of the U-21's playing progressively so I guess that should make him a shoe-in. Like others I can't see the FA "establishment" dealing with Harry Redknapp - too big a rogue with way too much baggage even if he keeps out of jail long enough to apply for the job. My guess is that someone like Roy Hodgson is more their cup of tea and they certainly won't be concerned about upsetting West Brom by appointing him.

Why the new thread? This has been raised at least twice before. Don't you mean twice before this week alone!

Like others have said, the chances of the FA appointing Redknapp are slim and the chances of Spurs appointing Poyet are even slimmer

These thread's are getting very boring. Some people have to ask themselves when was the last time any club in the top 6 appointed a manager with no experience at managing a club in Europe!

I think that Spurs would be a better club for Gus to go to as they have potential and with Chelsea the EUFA Champions League is the only trophy he could win, anything else would be no better than they have done. On another thread is the timescale of 2013/14 for the opening of the academy that he is after so that should put any thoughts of him going before then to bed at least until then at least.

Somehow, someway Redknapp seems to be the media's perfect person. God knows how some managers get criticised and he doesn't! Can't wait for him to be England manager, playing a flat 4-4-2 with Crouch and Defoe upfront, and god forbid he even thinks about dropping his prized nephew from the squad! Also, with the way the media praises him for mediocrity, it will be the players that get blamed, not Redknapp when it all inevitably goes down the crapper.

If you didn't guess, I want that tactically inept man nowhere near the England job...

Bale on the right wing?! Seriously?!

You're right.

Pompey was based on spending spree, way beyond their means, leaving > £100m debts. Jumped ship when saw the cracks.

Spurs another spending spree, giving a squad cost > £200m (including Ramos's players). This included very big money on Bassong, Palacios, Keane (re-bought when had lost it). It took Levy to find and buy Van der Vaart by 'arry's own admission.
Got lucky in CL entry when Hicks-Gillett's mismanagement put LFC out of contention.
Normal order now restored with Spurs out of top 4 for good.

Without Modric & Bale (not bought by him), and Van der Vaart in an England team obviously, he would not be a tactical or psychological genius for England.

All a media con. And once he starts to fail, they'd turn on him too.

Better to choose from far afield, for the best international manager available.

I can't see spuds coming in for Gus, no chance.

The next England manager will either be the latest fashionable Jonny Foreigner or, an Englishman that has won his last 3 matches! The FA needs overhauling and quickly!

Before Harry goes anywhere near England he is going to court in January for what looks like the inevitable dodgy dealings at Pompey

well if jose wins la liga this year then he's basically COMPLETED club management, all he's got left is to achieve at international level

he enjoyed managing in england so it has potential
