If Everton, Brentford , Palace, West Ham, Chelsea, Liverpool, Burnley, Watford ...had been home fixtures this season and at the Amex we'd all be saying this was one of the best (if not the best) PL seasons we'd ever had , the Amex atmosphere would be transformed and everything would be different.
Can you imagine 4 last minute winners/equalisers but in front of the North Stand.

But they weren’t were they? The home form is diabolical and GP needs to sort this! 3 home wins is tragic. He is a decent guy but until he sorts his issue with winning at home he can’t be classed as anything but an average coach!

Might be more inspiring and relaxing to silence opposing fans rather than playing in front of conditional support who you know are going to turn against you if things go bad.

Home fans create the home advantage. If you have no home advantage, its because the home fans didnt create it.

But I can't help harking back to the Goldstone days. From 1987 till it went I was going with a group of mates. Meet up in the local in Brighton and play pool over a few pints. Get the train to Hove (no queuing) at about 2.15 and stroll up to the North Stand. Hand over a fiver on the turnstile, or less if you could get away with beer breath and fags as an under 18. We had some good seasons (87-88, the playoff season), some indifferent seasons and lots of seasons where we were absolutely crap, but it was no hassle at all. And before the really gory years kicked in at least we had as good a chance as anyone else in the league and at least we scored.

Now I'm thinking about tomorrow. I've just had to work out which train to get so that we definitely make it in time for kick off and me and my son to eat lunch as it's a lunch time kickoff, but not so early that he's completely bored. Factored into that is will our train from Portslade be cancelled, how big will the train queue be at Brighton and will people finally be able to use their mobile phone ticket without cocking it up.

Lunch will be a tenner for both of us but will only consist of a burger or pie and then we'll have to go through the whole travel rigmarole on the way home. Typically this can take over an hour to do less than seven miles. You or I could run it quicker. The club does spread the cost of this via DD but it means I'm still paying for football in the summer. Game by game I'd drop well over 50 quid for two tickets.

And what for? To consider that "only" losing 2-0 will be a good result, that a draw is actually a win. Not because the club is any more being taken to bits by the likes of Archer, but because our opponents are in the same division, but operate in a totally different stratosphere on every single other level.

No wonder people give it up.

Absolute rubbish. We’ve spent most the season mid table, a lot of it in top 10. I’m not sure Tony Bloom is thinking he’s ‘average’ when up until now he is on track (ish) what we set out to at the start of his tenure

I did that for a match v millwall (?) one year at withdean. Got out of a (lucthime) shower and popped the radio on to hear some pre-match build up only to hear the match going on. We lost, and it was quite a poor game, so I guess it worked out for me.

It’s not rubbish is it. He has done ok but he is by no means the messiah that some think he is. The home form has been diabolical since his tenure has started. We have won 7 games this all season home and away. He is doing ok but certainly not as great as some insist.

I was busy setting up our new desktop pc, thinking we’d stroll down at 3 to see Poyet’s great team as a New Year’s Day treat.

Found out we’d won 5-0 post match.

You are correct, but you could also say if we didn’t get 3 or 4 last minute goals we would have had 3 or 4 more losses. I don’t think anyone is expecting top 10 (hoping for but not expecting) but they would like a little more attacking intent from the team, especially at home. Our play has been laboured for months now.

I have passed my season ticket on to family tomorrow as I can’t be bothered to drive 190 mile round trip to see us pass the ball around the defence and midfield, have no attempts on goal and give it away and watch Liverpool take advantage. I have never done that before. l’ll no doubt be back for Wednesday but tomorrow I will watch from a pub in Southampton!

It’s not rubbish. You’re talking about our general form but what was being discussed is our home form where wins do seem free and far between. The fact we’ve not got results at home is what the whole thread is about.

For now I'm just about prepared to gamble on the fact I'll lose almost the entire day to see an improbable result, and the old mojo will be a lot higher if we do, but the chances are we're probably going to lose by two or three again today.

I do…..and I do read the thread……I am genuinely struggling with performances being a primary reason though. Anyone who follows a football team knows there are peaks and troughs in that respect. I also go to non-league and women’s football and enjoy it just as much
