I'm not so sure. Why would they?

These days, Governments are big fans of using 'nudge theory' where possible. (ie - 5p/10p charge on plastic bags to discourage usage rather than legislating against them entirely).

The Government have been offering classic 'nudge' inducements including discounts on delivered food and Uber cabs to encourage as yet unvaccinated people to get vaccinated. I reckon they see the ability to attend live PL football as another significant lever they can pull so don't see why they would willingly abandon this tactic. But of course, who knows?

People seem to forget that ‘the Government’ can’t just make things law without a Parliamentary vote. Their emergency powers legislation will need extending further for them to be able to circumvent Parliament and with vaccine passports being a political hot potato, and with Starmer having called the current plans discriminatory and unworkable (and Tory backbenchers rebelling) I think vaccine or testing is going to be the obvious compromise when voting lobby time comes. Time will tell. Doesn’t affect me either way.

I’m not arguing for anything, just pointing out the obvious flaws in the system, which I think will continue to be in place from October.

do you not think that the gov will just use the same policy as the have announced for nightclubs? ie double jabbers only.

Why do you think a system with obvious flaws will be in place in October ? There must be some reason you think this way. Who knows, you might be right. I am just interested to know whether your view is based on anymore than wishful thinking and general opposition to any measures designed to reduce the spread of Covid.

Yes, if Parliament approves it, and there’s no majority for a no testing allowed policy. There also won’t be a majority for extending covid emergency powers around the same time if the government don’t budge on no testing. Interesting debate and I know where I’d put my money but we’ll only find out when they’re back from their summer holidays!

When you signed up to your ST for 21/22, you did so under the following condition, noting condition 2.2.3 which is pretty clear covers them for rules they wish to apply in regard to Covid:

2.2. A Season Ticket permits you to occupy at the Match the seat indicated on the Season Ticket or such other alternative seat of equivalent value as the Club may, from time to time, allocate to you at its reasonable discretion. For example (and without limitation), the Club reserves the right to temporarily allocate a Season Ticket Holder an alternative seat in the Stadium:

2.2.1. for operational reasons;
2.2.2. because the relocation is necessary to comply with the requirements of any Football Authority Rules and Regulations;
2.2.3. to ensure social distancing can be maintained in accordance with Government and/or Football Authority guidelines or to comply with any other measures required to minimise the risk of transmission of COVID-19 or any other infectious disease; or
2.2.4. if the Club and/or the Police consider the relocation is necessary in the interest of public safety.

But at no point does it make it compulsory to show my vaccination status or ID

Mate, what is it with you and saying I’m trying to ‘game the system’ with my ‘general opposition’?! I was just pointing out the floors, which are hardly rocket science. I’m double jabbed. I’ve explained my reasoning behind why I think LFTs will continue in other posts.

It's a broad enough clause to cover that given at the time of writing they wouldn't have known what would have been happening with Covid in August and beyond.

Besides, they've so far said it's your vaccination status, a Covid Pass OR Negative LFT.

This has all the hallmarks of an absolute shambles.

Trying to herd 30,000 fans around the ground with so many rules in place about getting in and what do when you’re inside isn’t going to work.

And what the hell’s going in with parking? That email was clear as mud….

I didn’t say you were trying to game the system. Think you have misunderstood something I wrote in reply to someone else. My question to you was genuine curiosity. No worries.

I read it as from 01 October these requirements will be mandatory. Before 01 October the club is applying them anyway so that they can refine the processes for when they become mandatory.

suggestion is that from 1st October the government approach will come into operation which is the same as they have for Nightclubs from September (no double jab, no entry), though as pointed out this needs to be rubber stamped.

Lots of moaning on here.

Those that aren't double jabbed who I sympathise with but if inclined have a fair bit of time to do something about it.
Those moaning about having to bring/show ID. Most will have had ID with them previously. I have no idea why someone is bothered about identifying themselves.
Those that are bothered about it being a shambles. Lets see how it goes before we pass judgement.

Its got to be better than watching on the box with empty stadiums is all Im thinking.

I thought the email just said 'No more parking in Bennets Field, 1901's will be moved under further advice and Matchday Parking only for the rest of us. Was that not clear or did I miss something?

Exactly!

How on earth did someone sign up to renew or buy a new ST in the middle of an unprecedented pandemic following pretty much no crowds through 20/21 season with restrictions everywhere, with T&Cs clearly in the ST package, thinking you were going to start the 21/22 season without needing ID and other proof of vaccination or negative tests? Did people honestly think they were just going to walk in in August!? :shrug:
