Will a win make any difference Hansy as I haven’t checked the tables for a while.
Oh no. We’re utterly f***ed in terms of qualifying! Fully expect England to start playing really well, now it’s too late, though.

Yeah, I noticed that. Even if we beat the Aussies and everyone else we still need results elsewhere.

Fully expect some outstanding performances now before an early plane home.

Surprising competence. TBH the funniest outcome is we stink this World Cup out yet somehow beat India.

From the Guardian match report

"It emerged before the game that the qualification process for the next Champions Trophy had been changed – in 2021, without a whisper of public announcement – so that only the top seven teams in this tournament’s group stage (or eight, should the hosts, Pakistan, be among the seven) would be involved. Amazingly, though the England and Wales Cricket Board had been notified at the time, nobody in the England camp had any idea. Their players might not mind a bit of time off in early 2025 but their absence would be an embarrassment, and they have had enough of those of late."

But we are not champions (or won't be soon), so shouldn't be in it anyway

Just looked at the fixtures and, amazingly, England could still qualify for the semis. There would have to be a lot of results going our way and would obviously need to improve our run rate but it is, mathematically possible

(Narrator's voice "Possible in theory: not a chance in practice)

Fully #TeamAfghanistan from here on. :clap2:
They play Australia next week after Netherlands. Should be a HUMDINGER.

Sometimes these tournaments are more enjoyable once England have gone.

Awfully convenient that a few days ago people were saying that the last third of the group stage was looking like it would feature an awful lot of dead rubbers, and suddenly the ICC pull a new tournament (well, a rehashed old one) out of the hat to provide some extra context to the latter part of the tournament, isn’t it?

It was only two weeks ago that people were talking about Afghanistan beating England as being one of the greatest shocks in cricket history. Doesn’t look that way now, does it?

We're waiting for our team (Afghanistan) to play their next match.
Indeed.

I guess we retain a little interest in this one though -with regards to what result best improves OUR chances of making the top four. SA already have 10 points (and NZ 8) so I guess we should support the Saffers today.
