Dreadful news. Just before my time, but the legend preceded. RIP Spider

I never got to see him play for us. I was only 3 when he moved to Chester but my Grandad and Dad were huge fans of his when he played for us so I got told all about him and his partnership with Wardy.

RIP Spider.

Oh no! That is incredibly sad. His partnership with Ward was the stuff of dreams. And he wasn't a childhood hero, I was a young, responsibility-free adult in that Mullery era and he was a major part of why I look back at that period with such fond memories.

RIP Spider, you total Brighton legend. :( :(

RIP Spider, what a horrible disease, I had never heard of it before.

Fabulous memories of my early days watching the Albion. The way he rode tackles and looked like he was going to lose the ball only to come away with it.

Very sad

Ian Mellor. Or 'Ward and Mellor' as I knew them right at the start of my Albion journey. I knew the names at the age of 7, and I know them as clearly now. So they were the foundations of my Albion life.

RIP great man.
