apart from that awful 'singing' before the game and the national anthem... what a shocker!

And I was pleased the better team on the day won.

Well done Man City.

Poor game with 2 very poor teams also the ITV presentation wasnt very good either not like' the good old days' for Cup Final Day.

I though Man City played pretty decent football throughout... especially in the first half.

I have no idea what you would consider 'a good game' but I enjoyed that one as a neutral.

Man City didnt play fluent passing football as you would expect with their wealth of talent. Perhaps Gus has spoiled us this season. Thought Balotelli, Richards and Lescott were their stars. Stoke just tried to kill the game and appearred scared to try to play football. No end to end thrills and very few shots that troubled either keeper.

Did you take a nap during the first half ?

You don't remember Thomas Sorensen making great saves from Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli ?

A totally one sided contest without many chances, with the side coming out on top by a single goal despite costing about a hundred million more than the opposition.

Average final, but better than some that we've seen.

I too very much enjoyed it. Stoke definitely froze on the occasion and Man City were pretty good. I like the boy Ballotelli and the story of him frogmarching a school bully into the school and addressing the school and extolling the hatred of bullying puts him right up there. I think he is an ok lad, finding his feet.

I presume Gus was there just before flying down to see Jakey boy at Torquay?
BBC website says

Shrews manager Graham Turner may be left to rue the 'oversight' which led to on-loan Torquay striker Jake Robinson being allowed to face his parent club, as the 24-year-old was instrumental in helping the Gulls seal a two-goal cushion.

I actually just got back from the cup final. I went with my dad and brother who are both man city supporters and it wasnt the best game although city were pretty good i felt...

The atmosphere before the game was bloody brilliant though outside of the stadium and during the game. Ive never been to a cup final before and it was really nice to watch the game as a neutral.

I enjoyed the match, but I was a little disappointed for Dave Kemp the Stoke assistant manager. When Dave was a player at Crystal Palace he came down to the club where I was playing and did some coaching, he is a top bloke and an excellent coach, he's 9 years younger than me, and I've always followed his career with interest.

'When Dave was a player at Crystal Palace' followed by 'he is a top bloke' . That is funny......well done.....

Strange day to have the cup final. Season still has two more games left.

Think Cup Final Day has lost its magic. It was traditionally the finale to the season after the leagues had been decided and this day rounded off the season and was always shown on both BBC and ITV with The Scottish Cup Final being shown at the same time in Scotland. Progression is not always for the good of the game and its supporters, as this has shown.

Another down side is that we will be represented in Europe by Stoke City and that cannot be a good representation of English football.

That game was certainly not a classic, I would best describe it as absorbing, there were plenty of minor battles going on on the pitch even if it never really ignited. In the first half Huth was a little lucky to stay on the pitch for his flailing elbow, which might have made for a really uneven contest, but other than that both teams kept it reasonably fair.

Fair comments about Balotelli, he was probably the best player on the pitch, despite the bad press he gets the story about addressing the bully has raised him considerably in my opinions. Stoke did disappoint me slightly, they didn't really enforce their game on Man City. Pennant had a really good game though, in a side bereft of real stars he was a shining light, a notable mention must go to Sorensen who kept his team in the game during the first half.

A game that will probably not linger long in the memory but nice to see someone outside the usual suspects picking up some silverware, though with the funds at their disposal I suspect it might be the first of many.
