Sami IN.

He needs to use his Liverpool contacts to get in a striker on a 93 day loan, and then sort that problem out permanently in January.

The problem is the balance of the squad.

We need to let the manager pick his own players and a manger who knows the lower leagues and can bring in players within the constraints the club is obviously imposing.

Feel sorry for Hypia and a little for Oscar.

Note Enough football people at the club, to many suits.

In, obviously? Firing a manager after 8 games is ****ing ridiculous.

However, if we're in the bottom half at Xmas, then he's simply not cut out for this job.

...but there is 3 months until Xmas, give him time, you fickle *******s :bigwave:

This with bells on it...

The more I watch the more I see what I think I can see what he is trying to do and I'd certainly give it more time.

He may need some more new faces, more time for the current players to adjust, and/or more time to better understand the Championship and adjust, but most likely a combination of all of those

This season isn't written off by any means and even if it were then barring a catastrophe then I feel we should persevere

A view after only 8 games is hardly going to be well formed but the question was asked!

Could you shed light on what he is trying to do?
All I see is Crofts being a shadow of the former goalscoring box to box player, JFC being played in a defensive midfield role who covers left back, two full backs being asked to be at one end of the field and then back to their position before the oppo break, two number 10s and no wingers.

Should add I don't think he be sacked, mainly because I want some consistency and all the changing is not good. However, I really hope he changes the style and quickly

Apart from Greer, Bruno and JFC that was a whole new starting XI out there yesterday compared to the end of last season, most were not here until the end of the window and people expect them to just turn up a smash any team we play.

Plus this whole new team is under a new manager trying to implement a new system .

Some seriously deluded people on here.

We're bottom 7 now, our next 4 fixtures are massive with Forest & Watford away, Cardiff & M'Boro at home. It would be too early to sack him, but make no bones about it right now we're in a relegation battle - the league is littered with cases of clubs thinking they're too good to go down until it's too late. We should stop talking about play-offs right now and just concentrate on getting clear of the bottom 3.

Absolutely right. We need to scrap for points to get away from the bottom three as soon as possible.

There is only one or two niggling things wrong with the squad mainly the striker situation we need a 25+proven scorer at this level or above.
There is very little wrong with the players its how their being managed and the tactics he employs to do it.
Someone put on here he had a 43% win at Leverkusen not strictly true at all, he was more the assistant to Sacha Lewendowski as at the time he could not legally take charge as he didn't have all the qualifications.
Therefore Lewendowski was picking the teams and sorting the tactics, when he left his side to manage in the youth ranks and Hyppia took over after getting the correct qualifications, that was when things turned to shite.
And that is why he was sacked, as he was no good at the job.
We will never progress with him.

Who should we buy that can score 25 plus goals and how much will he cost in transfer fees, signing on fee and wages?

We could and should have bought Assombalonga !!
Saying that though what really would have been wrong with Chris Woods although not 25+ he can score many goals at this level.
As a club the signings come far far too late right at the start of the season.
Its bargain bucket trawling every now and again you get a gem but when we do we always sell, i understand that we couldn't turn down money for Ulloa of that amount but as soon as we sold
him we should have bought Assombalonga he was still at Peterborough then. Crazy absolutely crazy

On spending money, I'm going to wait to see the clubs plans in January when I believe the FFP fines/rulings come in.

If the FL stay strong and impose transfer embargoes and fines then good players will become available a lot cheaper including their wages.

I just have a feeling the club are waiting to see the outcome of this and are prepared to tick along until then.

That's my gut feeling anyway.

Under the current spending I don't think we could have competed with what Forest would have offered if we had entered into the race for the lad from Posh.

Will they?

Firstly, that assumes players will off load their high earners. I think we're more likely to see fringe players released than any players of real quality, though.

Secondly, if they do release a high earner, if you're a player who is on, say £40k a week at Forest with a three year deal how willing would you be to walk away from such a contract? Suppose come December Forest find they can't afford to keep you and make FFP limits, they come to you and say 'we need to sell you because we can't keep you and meet FFP targets'. You go out and look at what teams want to sign you and everyone out there are offering you £15k because they want to stay on budget, especially now they know the league are strongly behind it, are you going to go?

It's not a case of Forest not being able to afford to pay you. They can, they have a rich owner pumping money in to the club. They can afford your wages, so there's no moral obligation. They won't cease to exist if you go back to them and say 'look, no other club is willing to pay me what I feel I'm worth, so I'm going to see out my contract'. The worst that happens is Forest are still prohibited from transfer deals, and you sit in the stands collecting the money. You won't bankrupt a club and tear the heart out of a community.

They knew what they were doing, they knew what the budget constraints were, and they signed you anyway, it's their own fault. Why should you take a 60+% pay cut for their mistake?

That is, of course, assuming clubs just roll over and accept any punishment. There's a good chance lawsuits will be threatened, arbitration will occur, new, toothless punishments enacted, etc. and they keep their players and eschew FFP.

Yes agreed, and I it wont happen over night in January, but there will be plenty of players who do not still have 3 year contracts, those who will be released from Prem teams (I'm talking in the summer) they and their agents will have to be realistic in the post FFP embargo era when it comes to wages.

Only freshly signed players this year will be on good deals, they'll be plenty who will be coming to the end of theirs, plus good younger players at other clubs coming through who these clubs wont be able to pursue now due to cost cutting.

All this is just guess work anyway, until the Football League play their hand no one knows what will happen.

And if FFP does go out the window then Tony can start to spend his Billion quid on the squad.

I'm not getting into tussle over this but what I think he's trying to do is use the FB's as old school wingers, dropping the wide MF's (Crofts and JFC) into their spots as they leave spaces when quickly countered, and also relying on the 2 CMF's (Holla and Tex) to get in behind the front men (Collunga/Baldock) once Bruno or Bennett find the room to make something happen. So we then have 4/5 attacking opitions into the villains box/danger area

Far from a technical specialist but that's how I see it ... if you need more then I'm not the fella to provide it

Could work in league 1 with the squad we have but not in the championship.

He needs to adapt and find a balance but with our squad that will be very tough.

That idea works with Holla and Ince doing the slotting in to help the full backs but not Crofts and JFC neither are good enough tacklers to carry it out. We then need Tex and Stephdns when fit to get in to support the front men which should be CMS and Baldock.

You need top quality players for the level that you are at to make tactics/formations like ours work.

We don't have them.
