Bloody hell. He has one bad day and we all want to lynch him. My 2 boys accosted him in Churchill Square asking for an autograph. He was with a few mates all his age. Couldn't have been nicer and more patient.

Coxy is a legend in the making. And Albion through and through. Let's not hound him out the club eh?

From what has been said thats the typoe of thing he likes, people stopping him in public asking for a photo etc - makes him look like somebody.

"From what's been said......."!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For christ sake he can't win can he? Acts like a true gentleman and gets slated. Says that he doesn't want to do it and gets slated. Let's just lynch him now and be done with it.

This thread is just so twatty. Bunch of misery guts gossiping like old ladies about something they've heard from a friend of a friend in a pub about one of our star players who...shock horror...is human with good and bad days. Leave the kid alone and if there's any disciplining to do let Wilkins do it behind closed doors.

EDIT - and when my starstruck kiddies got his autograph he wasn't the slightest bit arrogant or big-headed. You can take that as FACT not gossip.

EDIT EDIT - and Coxy is somebody (hence the thread). He's a superstar to my 2 boys.

Albion goalscorer Jake Robinson has backed his close friend Dean Cox to follow his lead and learn from being axed.

Cox was left at home for disciplinary reasons as the Seagulls strolled to a 3-0 victory over Swindon at the County Ground on Saturday.

Robinson, dropped from the squad in similar circumstances at Swansea in September, said: "It's unfortunate for him. I am sure he was gutted sitting at home.

"I have become a better person and a better player for that incident and I am sure it will be the same with Dean and he will come back bigger and better than ever."....

I seem to remember that Wilkins was criticised for his treatment of 'Jakey' (Do we have to call him that?), yet his form has picked up since then and he has now stated, in the press, that he is a better person and player since the incident. Hopefully the same can be said for Cox and it will be another triumph for Wilkins.

Interesting, Bozza. So, overall, it's fair to say Cox is an arrogant little fucker who thinks he's "it" when in fact he's a mediocre third division footballer. I don't dislike many of our players, maybe only 3 or 4, but this guy really is a DICK.

Not me - my tale is first hand - I witnessed with my own eyes and ears as I waited for the Insider to rescue me from the winter chills and escort me to the luxury environs of one of the club 'lounges'.

EDIT EDIT - and Coxy is somebody (hence the thread). He's a superstar to my 2 boys.

And is/was to the young lads he instantly dismissed claiming to be too busy etc.

didn't speak to him much when I joimed in training but will say this. Coxy is arrogant in a way a ood player can be and this gives him the confidence to be a pro footballer. having said this he is a decent bloke who is still learning and will make the odd mistake. WQilkins is a very good man manager imho as he knows when and how to dicipline anyone getting out of line while keepingplayer respect. Remembe, these guys are paid to do a job, If they step out of line they will be talked to but it's in house and sorted there

Leave the bloke alone. He's Albion through and through and one of our more gifted players. Codner, Brooker, Knight, El Abd ... Why do some of our 'fans' get such a buzz out of slating our own players?

New Argus Story :-

Cox is back in the fold

ALBION manager Dean Wilkins revealed today that Dean Cox's punishment is over and he will be considered for selection against Gillingham at Withdean on Friday night.

Cox was left at home for disciplinary reasons as the Seagulls won 3-0 at Swindon on Saturday.

Wilkins decided to crack down on the fiery little winger following incidents after the home defeat by Nottingham Forest 11 days ago and in training last week.

With emotions running high after the Forest setback, Cox became involved in a dressing room row.

The 20-year-old playmaker was then ordered in from a training session at Albion's Falmer headquarters in the build-up to the Swindon game.

Cox is in the squad for today's (Tues) reserve fixture against Charlton at Worthing (2pm) as preparations began for Gillingham's visit and Wilkins said: "It has been dealt with."

Asked if Cox would be available to face the Gills, Wilkins added: "I would say yes.

"As far as I am concerned I am not somebody that holds a grudge or anything like that.

"As long as we all know where we are coming from and where I am coming from, then there is not a problem."

Joe Gatting, back from a loan spell at Woking, also features in the reserve squad.

Reserves (from): Sullivan, Pelling, Kamara, Pearson, Butters, Rents, Loft, Martot, Skinner, Reid, Cox, Gatting, Elder, Revell, Mayo, Gargan.

Looks like the team has a busy day today then! 2pm match then up to the childrens hospital to see the little chavlings (as a mum who's son was in hospital over xmas three years ago, this visit by the players is priceless, even to the children who aren't quite sure who they are - they still know a local celeb has come to see them, and the players are always so friendly to the kids) then onto the junior seagulls christmas party! Hope they dont eat too much jelly and ice-cream!

an.

Sorry to say, but that is not what I have heard, first hand, from 2 players.

Oh well, at least Cox will be back in the side, Wilkins is right to disipline players if they muck him about, but I don't think dropping them is right, after all, we pay to see the team do well whenever possible, and if key players are dropped, then we are at risk of being denied that. What right does the manager have to do that?

Fine them wages by all means, but only drop them if what they have done is serious, obviously this is not a serious issue as he has only dropped him for one game.

Mayo is one of them, per chance?

What sort of message does not dropping a player for misbehaving send out to the players that toe the line and act like a model pro trying to force their way into the team or indeed to the youth teamers who are learning from the professionals?

No.

And like I said, I understand the need for disipline, but to drop a key player from a game is potentially depriving us, the customers, of what we are paying for. Wilkins won't tell us about the nature of the incident, not totally, so I say don't tell us anything at all, just fine him, whatever, but don't put the success of the club in jepordy over an off the pitch incident.
