What makes me laugh about these threads is that if the article had mentioned that it was a lesbian cruising ground and in fact those indulging were female the vast majority of the wank-merchants on this site would be down there like a shot with there digicams.

I gotta admit that the sweeping generalisations that being gay is an illness, all psychological, must've been abused, abnormal and so uptight they can't laugh at themselves make me laugh. People just find it so hard to accept that two men just happen to fall in love with each other and wish to live their lives with one another, own a house, have decent jobs, pay their taxes, go on holiday etc... No different to a man and a woman. So many closed minds out there its a shame really.

Gay people are exempt from tax and they get help with their rent and they steal all our jobs and our housing.

I gotta feeling you dont know what crusing is about, as I do !!!

I spent a lovely afternoon with the family in the beer garden at the Telscombe Tavern ( Cliff Top ) Pub and there is a public toilet also next to a car park overlooking the sea.

My kids and my friends kids were playing cricket etc. and at times wanted to go to the toilet, but could not use those toilets because for hours and hours on end, there were blokes going to the toilets and no doubt masturbating together in this toilet. That is what cruising is.

There is a point to be made here, that if this was predominately heterosexual behaviour you can be convinced that there would be a greater public outcry and the Police would be making arrests.

Unfortuantely those toilets have now been closed down !!

The toilets have closed down because there's no budget left.....

The trouble is, neither have you..."

BigGully, i'm gay, i know exactly what cruising is. I've never partaken in it as tbh cruising toilets, parks <insert outdoors place here> for sex has never interested me. I don't like the stigma it attachs to being gay, but can also agree with MYOB that its an outdated concept from times when it was more than likely the only place where a gay bloke/curious heterosexual could go to get his rocks off. I'm not saying its right, but its there along with all the dogging sites across the country.

The dogging comparison is unfair, the vast vast majority heterosexuals have not participated in it, we all have our own views and curiosities to what we feel about dogging , but it is still seen generally as an unacceptable practice and certainly is would not be tolerated in public buildings.

I am not too sure whether Cruising has that same stigma within the homosexual community.

My example where the Cruising took place whilst young children playerd outside and resulted in parents ushering their kids to another public place away from that toilet during one sunny afternoon should not be tolerated, surely.

Perfectly fair comparison IMO, seeing as I'd be fairly confident in saying that the vast majority of homosexuals (certainly those I know, not to mention myself) haven't participated in kind of activities you describe (which, for the record, I don't think should be tolerated).

I am not too sure whether Cruising has that same stigma within the homosexual community.

It certainly does among the younger generation of homosexuals.

We'll have to agree to disagree there then fella as i think its a fair comparison.

Out of all my mates none have cruised in the way you've described, so again, not every gay bloke gets his thrills that way as the vast majority of straights don't go dogging.

Along with Frutos, i don't think cruising in that sense is right, but then again you gotta go back and understand why such activities came about and the major reason was that homosexuality was illegal, so driven underground in such a way. Though the politicians constantly preach that we're a much more tolerant society these days, the stigma of being vilified for being gay is still so strong that people will still partake in such activities as they think its the only way they can do so.

I've made this point to my gay friends (none of whom indulge in this public stuff anyway): it's bloody unfair. It really pisses me off. Because I'd quite like somewhere to go and shag strange random women who are there for nothing but precisely the same reason. There's nowhere like that - at least not since Club Barcelona closed down.

Apparently a lot of the chaps who are taking these kind of risks do so because they're not out of the closet; there's a lot of gay guys there who are getting off with guys who regard themselves as "straight" but who just fancy seeing what it's like. Hey, whatever floats their boat - not my thing but then again neither is, fishing or macrame.

MOH, you should really take up macrame - you don't know what you're missing !

I'm spending more and more time on my macrame, since most of my dogging sites are full of picnicing families now the weather is warming up.

Will we all feel differently when we cannot play our first home game at Falmer because of a march in Brighton?

Accepted, I knew that when I put that 'vast vast' quote I was implying that the 'vast vast majority of homosexuals'did, .... that was wrong.

I have no doubt that if the heterosexual 'community' had a public place where they could go for random sex with like minded females it would be just as popular ( my problem is finding like minded females ! ), but although dogging is a recent phenomena the numbers and impact on local places is as yet fair less and would not be tolreated as much.
