I feel at the moment we need to be in a period of making big decisions, both on and off the pitch.

Because I feel as a Brighton fan that at the moment board and management do not what we what to be or where we want to be as a club.

I was at the game tonight and after the game I had a discussion with another fan coming out and he said that the team will not get into the play-offs with the players and style we are playing at the moment and my response was that if we want to be in the Premier League, we either needs to make a big decision. It is simply we are going have to be serious about getting into Premier League or else, it is time for the likes of Barber to leave.

The reason why, since we brought him in, changes has been happening all over the place. Prices have gone up, commercialism has gone up, it's been all about families and adult fans have been told to sit down. Barber said doing these was necessary if are reach the top division.

But the management has not been fielding a team who look capable of achieving it. Poyet, I know he has done a lot of good for us since coming, does not seem to be able to make the correct transfer decisions and we end up the wrong types of players for a Premier League push. Can someone tell me that the likes of Lopez, Bruno and Hammond are the type of players that are needed if we want to go up? I'm saying that if we are aiming for a consistent 13th place finish every season then fair enough, but we have people in our club making endless promises about top-flight football. There does seem to be that lack of understanding between the club's board and management and if feel like we are a club we need a decision to make.

If want to be in the Premier League for real, then we need to have a total overhaul of our squad sooner rather than later. The likes of Greer, Hammond, Barnes, Lopez, Painter, Bruno, Calderon, El-Abd and maybe LuaLua & Dicker will have be moved on and we have to set about signing more players who have a calibre of getting us into the play-offs. We would also have to have a different game play and more of a Plan B because over teams have worked us out since we come up. We need a lot more direct strikers and less wingers in front of goal and more strikers of a goal scoring threat. The defense will have to be dismantled and replaced immensely and the midfield will have to need more players will an aerial threat.

If Poyet is able to deliver these changes then it will be fair to him. But if does not make those changes and continues to bring in small, weak strikers and Spaniards that run around and do nothing then I am afraid something will have to give and it might be time for us to part ways with him, Tarrico and Oatway.

But if the club are not really serious about Premier League football and want to continue with the way things are on the pitch are like now, then it needs to Barber that has to go. The prices will need to come down and the expectations and promises will have to go with him. I just feel we do not have that direction at the moment and feel confuse as a club.
Watford, will I do not agree with the way they have gone about it, seem to have that direction and it was displayed tonight.

I know this is a long thread and some of it does not make sense but that how I feel about what the club needs to do at the moment so the fans do not turn against them, they do not get have arguments behind the scenes and that the club does not end up sliding down the league and in a relegation fight. If we don't want to be a Premier League club, we can make the effort of finishing around the top 10 as a new target.

And please don't bash me for insulting your favourite player or what not, I am just stating my own opinion, that what these threads are for.

Happy new year!:drink::albion2:

So why do you Slag off Dean Hammond why Gus couldn't even be arsed to play him????

Let me guess this is your 2nd season.
overhaul! we ve got the 2nd best defensive in the league.tbh it seems to be all the plastics that have all this talk of the prem the really fans seem more than happy with how were going about things.yes a good forward is needed but apart from that were creating lots of chances but not bagging them.im more than happy being a good championship side the last few times in this league we ve bombed out straight away.
Lets walk before we try to run.
And enjoy the ride because it sure beats 3000 at gillingham and 7000 at withdean

I have been to the Goldstone, Gillingham and Withdean without minding the rain and never once have I left early when we are losing. I am also a season ticket holder for the past 4 seasons. The people who do that our the plastics who seem to have come out the woodwork in the past 2 years or so and expect us to play like Manchester United and can't accept losing. The East Stand is full of them, it drives me nuts.

It would be so much better for the club if these sort of fans ooze away. I would rather have the Amex with 18,000 fans out of a 30,000 seater stadium singing and getting behind our teams than a full house with about 10,000 fans sitting on their hands and leave with 15 minutes to go if our not 3-0 up or worse booing.

In the defence of the defenders we're 10th and yet have the second best defensive record in the division.

I think Bruno plays better when Buckley's in front of him as he pushes the opposition deeper. El-Abd was done for pace when we were beginning to chase the game by an extremely nippy forward, while Greer wasn't that bad tonight. They are still a decent defence and I do not see them as the problem.

Greer's time in my mind's is nearly up. He was great for us in League 1 but has struggled badly this season. The problem is he is captain so Poyet won't drop him whatever. He knows he will play every game so he doesn't up it.

El-Abd seems to have gone backwards at bit which is odd, he just looks slow to me and Bruno started well but has been going backwards since October. He appears to be a bit of a headless Spaniard.

The problem was our defense feel asleep when Watford scored their goals and it made Tomasz exposed. It might be a let-off against a team like Watford who is doing better than us at present but it would be criminal to that against Ipswich on Tuesday.

He hasn't not done much since he came here and I felt money could have been spend on better midfielders. Crofts and Hammond have not made their mark on the team and don't get me started on Lopez? Really, what is the point of him besides penalties.

It is just another example of Poyet wasting transfer money. We really did need some taller, stronger midfielders this summer and all we got was old players coming back who just have not got an authority anymore or overseas players who are small & weak in midfield and make you want to scratch your head every time their names are called up on the starting 11. Our squad is actually ageing now. Where are some of the youth players? We need more height, more strength to get it to forwards, more youths and more direct in midfield.

I know your pain, mate. I am only making this one thread because I thought it was worth it. It might not matter now but it might mean something in the long run, if not, I and many others have tried.

Back in 2010 Bloom didn't know how many season tickets we would sell, how much merchandise we'd sell or anything. Now he knows what the numbers are and, in Barber, a bloke who knows how to keep things ticking over, control costs and maximise revenues. Off the field things have exceeded expectation, and you'd think he might therefore find a couple of million for a decent striker.

That is a good thing and a bad thing. The good thing is, the investment goes up. The bad thing is, the expectation goes up. It's a double-edged sword.

No, just trying to make a logical post. There was a lot of things that ticked me off tonight. 10,000 plastics ruling the Amex springs to mind. And if we do get magic beans, it would be good, just wishful thinking.

I just cannot believe how poorly we defended tonight. I just don't think the likes of Bruno, El-Abd and Greer are up to it. We need better defenders or we are slipping down this league.

I think you're a bit weird.
Our defensive record is excellent, but in SPORT things dont always go your way. They had a bad night.

Get over it.

Id sooner be the solid CHAMPIONSHIP club that we are than the mediocre 4th div club that we were. The premiership would be a total disaster for us as a club we are not ready for it in so many ways its unreal. Let Barber Gus and Mr Bloom do there jobs and sort it out we are safe for this season and thats all that really matters.

You've just confirmed that you have an awful opinion and your posts aren't worth reading.

Also, Barber out!? What the f*** are you talking about?! He's trying to maximise profit for a 90 million pound investor! Did you not go to school?! If you don't like the price of the pies, eat before you come out!

Complete morons joining NSC I tell you!

Our defensive record is excellent, but in SPORT things dont always go your way. They had a bad night.

Get over it.

The point is, over the last 15 months, there have been an awful lot of poor performances, marked by a lack of: goal scoring, pace, power, flexibility in offensive tactics, and confidence. Not in every game, and for a while in August/September we were fleetingly back to our best.

The big uplift in spending on fees and wages has not paid dividends, whereas the likes of Watford, CP, and Millwall have shown flair, power, tactics and confidence to get them into contention on a lower budget and great scouting.

There is no spare money for players hence the reason why Buckers price has been talked up by Poyet with the same being said for both bridders and CMS, We have to sell before we can buy
