Blue Valkyrie
Not seen such Bravery!
I feel at the moment we need to be in a period of making big decisions, both on and off the pitch.
Because I feel as a Brighton fan that at the moment board and management do not what we what to be or where we want to be as a club.
I was at the game tonight and after the game I had a discussion with another fan coming out and he said that the team will not get into the play-offs with the players and style we are playing at the moment and my response was that if we want to be in the Premier League, we either needs to make a big decision. It is simply we are going have to be serious about getting into Premier League or else, it is time for the likes of Barber to leave.
The reason why, since we brought him in, changes has been happening all over the place. Prices have gone up, commercialism has gone up, it's been all about families and adult fans have been told to sit down. Barber said doing these was necessary if are reach the top division.
But the management has not been fielding a team who look capable of achieving it. Poyet, I know he has done a lot of good for us since coming, does not seem to be able to make the correct transfer decisions and we end up the wrong types of players for a Premier League push. Can someone tell me that the likes of Lopez, Bruno and Hammond are the type of players that are needed if we want to go up? I'm saying that if we are aiming for a consistent 13th place finish every season then fair enough, but we have people in our club making endless promises about top-flight football. There does seem to be that lack of understanding between the club's board and management and if feel like we are a club we need a decision to make.
If want to be in the Premier League for real, then we need to have a total overhaul of our squad sooner rather than later. The likes of Greer, Hammond, Barnes, Lopez, Painter, Bruno, Calderon, El-Abd and maybe LuaLua & Dicker will have be moved on and we have to set about signing more players who have a calibre of getting us into the play-offs. We would also have to have a different game play and more of a Plan B because over teams have worked us out since we come up. We need a lot more direct strikers and less wingers in front of goal and more strikers of a goal scoring threat. The defense will have to be dismantled and replaced immensely and the midfield will have to need more players will an aerial threat.
If Poyet is able to deliver these changes then it will be fair to him. But if does not make those changes and continues to bring in small, weak strikers and Spaniards that run around and do nothing then I am afraid something will have to give and it might be time for us to part ways with him, Tarrico and Oatway.
But if the club are not really serious about Premier League football and want to continue with the way things are on the pitch are like now, then it needs to Barber that has to go. The prices will need to come down and the expectations and promises will have to go with him. I just feel we do not have that direction at the moment and feel confuse as a club.
Watford, will I do not agree with the way they have gone about it, seem to have that direction and it was displayed tonight.
I know this is a long thread and some of it does not make sense but that how I feel about what the club needs to do at the moment so the fans do not turn against them, they do not get have arguments behind the scenes and that the club does not end up sliding down the league and in a relegation fight. If we don't want to be a Premier League club, we can make the effort of finishing around the top 10 as a new target.
And please don't bash me for insulting your favourite player or what not, I am just stating my own opinion, that what these threads are for.
Happy new year!
So why do you Slag off Dean Hammond why Gus couldn't even be arsed to play him?
