All starting to look like the US people are taking this seriously now with it imminently going to hit New York in the next 24 hours the transport system and stock exchange is being shut down. Sounds like they are battening down the hatches and hoping for the best

Looks like this could be EPIC. Need to put the kettle on, get the biscuits out and flick over the CNN.

Most New Yorkers are taking it in their stride. Some think that shutting down the Subway and rail network is an over reaction as Sandy is not due to hit us until 2am Tuesday morning, it’s certainly buggered my Sunday evening plans, but I guess they have to be cautious. Some of my friends on Staten Island have been evacuated. Our office has been closed tomorrow – result! CNN, The Weather Channel and Facebook certainly come into their own at times like these, assuming we still have power.

I assume this will reach us on about November 5th. A naive dry Lewes this year then?

Seriously though, this could have some impact over here.

These two tweets from New Yorker and Complete Guide podcaster, made me chuckle.

The people across the street from me are taping up their windows. Can’t tell if they’re the idiots or if I’m the idiot. We’ll know soon.

UPDATE: The people across the street who taped their windows have now lit all their candles too so it appears they’re actually just jerks.

From what CNN are now saying this could be quite bad. I think we dodged a bullet last year with Hurricane Irene. Just spoke with friends in Queens and they have lost TV and Internet so looks like all the cable networks are going down. Stay safe in New Jersey

Dunno - but guessing it's not weather for walking the dog!

Stay safe L14 and all you lot out there. My mate is not happy having to close his bar and I phoned my sister earlier as I was worried but she was enjoying a day off and a Beer in the park near where she lives (upper Manhattan)

Got to love New Yorkers!
