Stay safe L14 and all you lot out there. My mate is not happy having to close his bar and I phoned my sister earlier as I was worried but she was enjoying a day off and a Beer in the park near where she lives (upper Manhattan)

Got to love New Yorkers!

Cheers PJ - my local is still open but a lot will be closed as the staff wont be able to get in.

A crane has collapsed on building site in the centre of New York, storm not hit with it's force yet it's gonna be a long night in NYC

Looks nasty too...

Apparently its building a 90 storey skyscraper with apartments, the cheapest of which would be $7.35 MILLION - also would have a penthouse costing $115 Million

Hurricane Sandy, a massive storm described by forecasters as one of the largest to ever hit the United States, has picked up speed and is moving northwest at 28 mph. Maximum sustained winds are 90 mph. Landfall is expected early this evening along the southern Jersey coast. The Category 1 hurricane is threatening nearly 50 million people. Storm surges of up to 11 feet are expected in New York City, and rescue efforts are already under way for people who ignored evacuation orders on the coast of Delaware.

Now I have family holed up over there so I'm not saying this lightly, but christ on a bike why the hell do the emergency services have to risk their lives for idiots like this?
