What, scuff a shot when clean through because he wants to break the net, tough guy that he is? The man has no finesse. Watch him in shooting practice when the players warm up. Just wants to be a tough guy. Pathetic really.

I always watch the shooting in the warm up. Barnes is decent in that - better than CMS, and far better than Leo.

He and CMS missed so many chances last season. So for me they are not forwards that cannot be replaced. We need someone who takes their chances.

If the Nigels can fork out £6M up front for Gayle then Barnesy must be worth at least the same.

Very true Barnes has scored goals in championship for two seasons now and is still only young

You show me a striker that converts all his chances and I'll show you a striker that's well out of our price range.

Its not just about Barnes's ability to finish, which I actually think could be improved, but also all the other defensive work he does.

I just wonder whether some of he anti-Barnes feeling stems from Withdean when Murray was being left out and Barnes and Wood was up front. They scored a similar number of goals that season in any case.

The facts for me are clear. Barnes is relatively young, he's proved his adaptability for the team from a positional perspective, in the absence of Ulloa he is our only decent striking option, defensively he is an asset, he'll continue to improve, he'll continue to score and miss some chances and hopefully he'll continue to play for us.

Not arguing here, some people have already made up their minds about him......but I think he's a good young striker. I hope he stays.

I like Barnes and when played through the middle like against Blackpool he can be very good. Not sure about the established as one of the best strikers in the championship part but he is certainly very good if used right. I personally feel the club will end up selling if the right offer comes in as he is not unsellable like some others. Sad to see him go if it happens but as long as the price is right and the money is used on someone Oscar wants then so be it.

Barnes is a very decent championship striker that we pretty much signed for peanuts. He's proven he can score goals at the this level and adds some balls to the team. With his aggression and desire to win comes a touch of petulance but he does what he's paid to do very well. I for one would be hugely disappointed if we sold him full stop let alone for a pathetic amount like 1 million, just look at what some teams pay for players with a similar goal return.

We need to be getting players in as we are 4/5 down, not shipping them out and adding to this deficit.

About 1.75m would be about right.

Prefer not to sell but if it meant we could keep Bridcutt then would accept.

A fit and playing Barnes can get you 15 a season and that isn't easy to replace. To many question marks involving our strikers ( except Ulloa) for anyone to seriously say they are happy to flog one that guarantees you a not bad goal return.

Barnes is what I call an old fashion CF, IMO to let him go would be a mistake the boy will only get better, I would be gutted if he scored 20 championship goals elsewhere.
