Ashley Barnes is the most natural striker/goal scorer at the club. If played in the centre forward position he would easily score 20+ a season. But like some ppl have said, as good as Gus was, he never had the balls to play Ashley in his most dominant position.

Better player than CMS, end of..imo. If you can't control a ball you won't cut it in the Championship and CMS ball control is shit.

This. He's a comfortably better player than CMS, it's not even close.

Do you think his agent works for Sky?

Sky Sports understands several Premier League and Championship clubs are tracking Brighton striker Ashley Barnes.

Barnes is entering the final year of his contract at the Amex Stadium and the 23-year-old has yet to be offered a new deal.

The news has alerted a host of Barnes' suitors, with the former Plymouth man establishing himself as one of the best strikers in the Championship.

Barnes finished as Brighton's top scorer in their first season back in the Championship in the 2011-12 campaign with 14 goals and he scored nine goals last term despite missing seven games through suspension.

Norwich and Hull are both thought to be admirers of Barnes and are actively monitoring his situation on the south coast.

Brighton would be loath to lose Barnes, but they are bracing themselves for bids for the skilful attacker.

Think Barnes fully deserves that write up, to many hatters at the club. By far the better striker at the club.

Hopefully he'll be played in his natural position this season and people will realise he's a very good player. His performance against Arsenal in the FA cup shows what he can do as a proper striker rather than stuck on the wing and being forced to come back to defend corners.

What, scuff a shot when clean through because he wants to break the net, tough guy that he is? The man has no finesse. Watch him in shooting practice when the players warm up. Just wants to be a tough guy. Pathetic really.

Here is a post that says far more about the poster than Barnes.

I would be more gutted to see Barnes go than I am at the departure of Spanish Dave.
