Some more updates via Argus this morning Liverpool presser.

Bernardo [hamstring] - Not available for Liverpool. Came off during West Ham game. " "I think he would probably be touch and go [for Man Utd]. It is a hamstring strain that he has.
"It's a minor one, which is the good news, so it is going to be about how he responds."

Izquierdo [knee] = No update. Not training. JI revealed to twitter user (see above) that he estimated an end of January return.
Last detailed update on Jose (Dec 29th) from CH - ""It's the same injury [as the world cup], but he is in a decent place at the moment which is good.
"All we've got to make sure to do is the process. We are mindful of not pushing him too quickly.
"What we want to do is make sure we get him right so that when he is back playing he can have a longer period of being fit."

Ali J [hamstring/Asian Cup] - Away. "returned to full training" via https://www.foxsportsasia.com/footb...g-ahead-of-crucial-encounter-against-vietnam/

Connolly [hamstring] - taken off in first half of Monday's u23 game v Arsenal. ""He went off with what he thought might have been a hamstring problem but I think he is in good shape. He was a lot better the next day.
"It's certainly nothing serious. Over this period of time we'll assess what will happen with him, whether we decide to keep him here or whether he will take up one of the numerous enquiries for him."

Izquirdo's knee, was this the knee hedamaged at the World Cup?
He only played for 65 mins and now he's going to miss at least half of the season. No compensation due from the Colombian FA either.

Wonder where those enquiries have come from? If there have been any rumours, I've missed them.

There’s a tiny bit more from Hughton’s post Saints press conference today on injuries / recovery in Argus.

Gross [ankle]- “it’s not one that is going to keep him out for a number of games”

Post Liverpool.

CH on Bissouma [hip]
"“He pulled out of training day before yesterday - slight hip problem. Nothing that will keep him out for a period of time. Not quite sure [about Man United]
but its a very short term problem. “
via https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p06w15wk

You know how some Americans use the phrase 'I could care less' when they actually mean they couldn't care less... I'm wondering if Hughton is part American.

Gross was out for a number of games. That number was 8. Even at the Southampton game it was believed he would be out at least 1. as others pointed out at the time, 1 is a number, so he was always going to be out for a number of games, it was just a matter of which number.

Bissouma has missed one game, a whole 90 minutes. So he has been kept out for a period of time that is currently at 90 mins (+ injury time and training).

Gross when recovering from his injury had a setback and was out for a few more weeks. This is unfortunate but normal and doesn’t mean that Hughton is “lying”, pretending or that anything he says about injury recovery time (3 or so press conferences a week, multiple players across, a 45 odd week pre/season ) is wrong. He’s boringly correct most of the time. And anyway he’s only repeating what his medical team tell him (who win awards for recovery in last few seasons) so blame them.
