I’ve lost track of this. I supported it initially but the very first thing which happened was to drop significant sections like the Heathrow link. Hugely disappointing and now its a joke.

(pun obviously intended)

I think any government project proposal, when made, should then automatically be trebled in cost and time taken for a much fairer estimate. They simply cannot be granted based on what the backers originally state. Then decide if it’s worth it.

And then handed to a friend/neighbour/donor of the Tory party who has absolutely no previous experience?

Oh, that’s a given obviously! Along with making your own dad a Knight etc. Anyone would think that’s called corruption but hey ho, maybe we’re old fashioned.

trouble is they dont pass the threasholds for positive economic impact if you have a fair estimate. numbers are fudged to get the go ahead, after its starts and cost rise above forecast, rely on sunk cost to keep going.

Not just that but we’ve spent £2Bn trying to build a new emergency services network - project started in 2016, they’ve now binned the contractor and stuck with a bunch of obsolete technology. Whole thing will need to start again

@AmexRuislip I took my mum to the dump yesterday (didn't leave her there!) and couldn't believe the carnage around there. I was wondering if the Government was going to announce HS2 was going to stop at High Wycombe or somewhere.

We went to the dump today, always go through Harefield, much quieter.
Even HS2 parking now congregating in Hillingdon Borough ground opposite the Woodman
