Have to say I totally understand the teacher flipping out on this one and he has my utmost sympathy. Too much indiscipline in schools from little shits like this kid and while they don't deserve to get seven bells beaten out of them this highlights the need for more to be done about unruly kids.

You totally understand him fracturing his pupils skull?...

Freak

He pleaded guilty to GBH but the charge was attempted murder.

Well thats fine then, its not like he deliberately fractured someone's skull or something..

It is just astonishing. It would be more understandable if he just lost his head but apparently he said he felt at peace and was reported to shout die die die.

How the f*** is he not banged up for a very long time is crazy

It's not right to do what he did but I reiterate that he has my utmost sympathy, as does any teacher who has to put up with continually disruptive kids like this boy.

A good teacher can control their class, this man can obviously not control anything. Including his temper. Can't believe he got away with fracturing a minors skull! Astonishing.

Couldn't agree more about the shit justice system we have in this country.

Look at last years farce with the Fireworks manslaugher case, Complete F@ck up by the Firebrigade causing 2 of their crew to lose their life, yet no action against them. Also a major cock up by the Police too by allowing members of the public to get too close before it blew up (where was the manditory 600 metre cordon??) so why no action against them either? - Yet they threw the book at the Winters in an attempt to divert critism and to create a scapegoat, covering up their complete incompetance on that fateful day. Where is the justice for the Winters??

The Police and Firebrigade worked in partnership to investigate the incident, so a) how is that a fair and unbiased process and b) why are those potentially facing charges for the deaths working closely with those investigating it - would the Police allow the Winters to assist in the investigation?

But he hasn't got away with it has he? He was never going to get done for att/murder over it because it could never have been proved in spite of what he said during the incident. If a jury cleared him then you can't really argue with that.

No he doesn't have to put up with it though, if he found it too difficult to cope he could have left the profession and tried his luck in another career rather than resorting to attacking a pupil with a blunt heavy object.

Would this have happened if teachers were allowed to discipline pupils for bad behavior still, such as using the cane?

They were discussing this on the radio today. Apparently he'd been off work due to personal issues and whe he returned the science class he was taking intentionally ran amok to try to push him to breaking point, which they obviously did. Doesn't excuse a violent response but we are all human.

He was apparently an exemplerary teacher up to this point as many, including friends in the legal profession have testified on his behalf about him as a teacher/person. The less said about the boy's track record the better.

Again (to be clear) I don't support his actions but understand them totally.
