Socially distant but still running. Can go miles and hardly see a soul and wear a buff across my mouth to hopefully not scare the occasional passerby. Don’t know whether or not I should feel guilty about this.

I am pretty strict in terms of any socilaising indoors but was assuming that it is Ok to go out for wlks with people and sociaise outside, as long as you aren't too close (I believe 1.5m from each other is the advise) and not all walking in a big group. I have been out walking and notice people are generally stayig apart reasonably well. I understand that one of the major reasons flu is seasonal is because people don't congregate indoors so much.

My stepson has had the virus - hopefully now on the mend, but not quite out of the woods. He has isolated himself in his room and been looked after by his 5 housemates, cooking and preparing drinks, but also including doing things like projecting skype on the wall so that he can 'join' them for dinner. They are taking it very seriously, determined to stay out of circulation for the 14 days as required despite some problems with food supply

They are all under 30 but understand that this is not about them.
Hearing about them doing all with this has made me happy. And hopeful. And angry when I see others ignoing their responsibility.

West is BEST
Seen lots of families who have clearly seen the school closures as a chance to take all the kids for days out.

At the end of my tether
I am "confined to barracks" as the military would say....being , I am told, at risk :annoyed:
the wife ventures out for food shopping but little else...she tried the early shopping for over 70s..that was a joke, she could not get near Sainsburys for queues. When she does go she says,as others have that she tries to keep a distance but others dont.....

here and there
I went to the dentist today (it's OK, he's got really long arms) - they are stopping any procedures but still doing checkups. I was surprised they were still running but there are probably few places cleaner and more sanitised.

Stopped off at Kingston market on the way back and they were all doing a roaring trade - Kingston town centre, DIY shops, garden centres all busy.

I should qualify, that when I talked about going for walks (and keeping your distance), that is not when you are self isolating - but as part of social distancing.

My apologies, if you had mentioned it was North London it may have seemed a little more plausible. Coming hot on the heels of the mass encampment story at Waterhall it just sounded like yet another gossip laden rumour!

Be interesting to hear if they do turn up today, or if it indeed was just another story! I'm sure it will be a massive story in the media when they do...

Just spoke to my secretary now.

Apparently they were supposed to be there to cover induction days during supermarkets training of more security but instead what they have put all the extra security personnel they recruited straight in to learn on the job so to speak.

I didn't make it up. That had been their plan. But to be honest I don't need to explain myself to anyone on here.

She said that shop has a team of around 35 security men or women on duty today.

No you don't have to explain yourself, and sorry if I made you feel that way.

I think the lesson to learn is to not repeat what others have been told, maybe only disseminate bona fide information that is given to you.

Alternatively, wait until after the event, as I am sure no-one on here will call you an "aftertimer"!

Me & my family will be socially distancing ourselves from today. We will be hanging out together, as well as going out together - but away from people. So countryside & seafront. Not in town or shops.

Stay safe people

Been into town unavaoidable and surprised by the numbers out.

Walked past a few pubs with a fair few in.

Looked not Friday levels but certainly people not interested in changing routines yet

Done 2 whole days now (i only popped out twice in the 5 days before) and i am pretty comfortable with the isolation. I have so much to do gaming, films, books. All very difficult to do with a 3 and a half year old climbing the walls.

I don't know how we are going to get out fortnightly shop done with the massive queues and long 8 week delivery slot waiting lists. How are we suppose shop without coming into contact with ppl.

I must admit it is now annoying seeing people not take this shit seriously. There's a women in the flat opposite who must be about 85-90 and she was walking down the road, chatting to the neighbours... ffs you will be one of the first to croak it.

People walking a meter apart and taking up pavement and cycle path is irritating, that's for sure

Surely if they're a metre apart you can zoom between them?

If the idea was 100% isolation then nobody would be taking it seriously, but I think there was a "reduction in contact" effect graph posted by Bozza on one of these threads that stated that just reducing contact by 75% could be incredibly effective. Now the schools have (finally, mostly) shut that will be my last big meeting of other adults and snot encrusted infants gone. I've found it astounding that parkrun has been cancelled but I've had to spend every afternoon in a playground full of gossiping mums ignoring coughing little Tyler whizzing straight for your ankles on his scooter. Cubs, football, climbing all gone, our eating out and pub drinking habits suspended, play dates on hold. So I reckon, that just like Bozza, I have cut my social interaction by at least 75%.

The most annoying thing is the people who seem to be ignoring it the most - dog walking oldies and alcoholics - will be the most at risk during the peak.

Tim Martin (Spoons owner) publicly saying closure of pubs would be 'over the top'......immediately validating the behaviour of those still going to the boozer. FFS.

Leeds City Council has, in its wisdom, opened the new playground up the road from us today, which has been under construction for months. Absolutely packed.

And good luck to her. She knows the risks and she's prepared to take them. She probably thinks she could be dead after 4 months of self isolating so better to go out as she wants to.
