How old is NSC?

I think I started posing in about summer 1998.

Things were quite different back then, some real characters.

Dave the Eagle, Kosh, Dick Knights Mum, whatever happened to them, I wonder?

Then there was DAFT and the untimely death of Dwayne's sister.

I know nostalgia isn't as good as it used to be but they really were halcyon days for this message board.

The Yanks even shut us down once so I'm sure we're on an FBI file somewhere.

Sorry, very cliquey - I said it once a few years ago when DKM went through an infequent spell and he/she was quick to point out that he/she did still post.

I just do it now to be flirty.

Sad, I know.

Kosh is very infrequent though, like a sense of Deja Vu, does he actually still post or are we just imagining it?

I got my first PC in November 1996 and immediately found NSC. I wasn't Emily's Mum as she wasn't born then, but it was definately going in late 1996. I think it was sometime in Dec 1996 that the Plymouth fan first suggested Fans Utd.

Just think what I could have done with my time had I not have found NSC :lolol: However, I wouldn't have found love

You are right Emily's Mum.

I had a PM from Manx to say that the Seagull server started in 1996 and the original NSC started in late 96/early 97.

I didn't appreciate that NSC was a matchmaker as well! :)

You mean the other Berkshire Seagull? Didn't know you KNEW each other. AND you're both called PETE. What are the CHANCES?
Zteve, I hope you are taking the michael - he was an ex colleague and Reading fan who was BANNED from going to any game for 5 years after trouble at an Oxford match. Perhaps he said his name was Pete as he was pretending to be me
???
His name is Jim Curtis by the way...

Just to clear up a point

Safeway/Seagullible

Are we talking about the Berkshire Seagull who was messing about with Safeway as he was doing one his presenations at one of the NSC meetups (the one after The Nelson) a few years back?

What ever happened to the Reverend?

If it's the chap I think it is, he still goes to games. His nephew posts on here.

I think a couple of other posters know him as well (possibly the Wookie).

I believe the Reverend also posted as The Wise One.

If I remember right, you simply typed your name in when posting, and could masquerade as any other users - although IP addresses were publicly displayed.

Or I could have dreamt the whole lot up...

The IP addresses weren't displayed at the very beginning, hence the free-for-all... They came in sometime around 1998 to put a stop to the imposters, and it worked reasonably well.

Parson Basil was my first userrname, way back when you looked youthful and a trite handsome. The squarehead is still the Stefan Dennis lookalike.

I thought Perry Milkins was your first name. You live and learn.

Truff. I've had a pint with Trib. He's always popping off to the loo to polish his helmet!

I can't remember when I started posting on NSC. It was after 1997 but before 1999. Back in those days our (shared!!!) computer at home had been provided by Lord B's then employers. I remember being able to access NSC at work but the format of the board meant that your IP information gave full details of which county council server you were using. I had a username in those days too!

I also remember that the first moderating job every day used to be deleting the screeds of sheer crap posted in the early hours of the morning by 12 year old Palace fans. The quality of their contributions not even being up to Childish Ramblings standards.

Of NSCers from the past, does anyone remember Alison from Oop North? I recall she attracted a deal of "Would You?" attention...
