The dull part of the south coast
Think I paid the same. I remember being outraged when it went up (to two bob; could have been two bob going up to half a crown but you get the drift). 1969.
1965 was the first year of my Albion watching journey. 1/6d - I’m sure it was that, for boys entry (girls didn’t exist then!). In new money that would be 7 pence. I seem to remember you had ‘transfer gates’ at either end of the chicken run (East Terrace) where you could move from the North Stand to the South depending on which goal the Albion were attacking - and vice versa.

Got it. That makes more sense. Must’ve taken a few “busy bee” number 7s to get fans away in match days…those little mini buses on the Hove Station route

Money was tight in the 50s and we lived in Greenfield Crescent. So dad and I (from 6 years old) took the bus to South Road, walked up Millers Road, down the The Drove and along the Old Shoreham Road to stand behind the North Stand goal. Then it was reversed for the journey back home and a welcome tea of either condensed milk or mashed banana sandwiches, The Groves followed by Dixon of Dock Green on the 9 inch Bush TV. Slept well in those days!

Was this one of the options you considered when you chose your username?
I'm beginning to regret not going with Beamish's ring.

All to the Hovis ad theme (by Dvorak).

Whoops....I forgot this is hanging on the wall in the computer room. Think it dates back to late 50s (someone correct me if wrong) as the games were pre floodlights being installed at the Goldstone. Luckily the printed the admission charge on the posters.

It was the 55/56 Season

The scores were:
BHA v QPR 1-1
BHA v Walsall 3-0

I dont know the score of the Luton match as I see it wasn't a first team fixture, it was a reserve team / Combination League fixture. The first team played away at Northampton that day and lost 3-0

We finished 2nd that season but it wasn't enough to get promoted as only one team got promoted to Div 2.....

My mum and I used to go to Cambridge City after halftime when we lived down the road in the 70s as it was free :giggle:
I lived in Cambridge for a year from autumn 1988 as I was seconded to Philips Scientific on my industrial year from university. Occasionally went to see Cambridge United play, and went to Cambridge City once, if memory serves.

30 pence seems to ring a bell, as a child of course.

6d I think. Long time ago mind and I wasn’t paying.
I can remember paying a shilling in the sixties or two bob to sit in the west stand.

About 70p.

First season ticket was £21 for 21 games. Yes, that was £1 per game kids.

f***ing Hell. Whenever old football is mentioned the first thing you think of is Beamish' ring? Christ.

:lolol:
That sounded like a real ale. I had to check the original email for context.
