Mine was a couple of quid, from the little portakabin ticket office at the Goldstone, as a child.

I saw a video on social media of some kids paying 25p to enter Stamford Bridge in the 70s. I was wondering if eventually football will become too elite, because of the prices and therefore inaccessible to the fan base that it once attracted?

A lot less than I pay in 2024

I cant remember if my first game was pre or post decimalisation - but around that time. IIRC it was a florin (or equivalent)

Intrigued to see the number of bus routes that served the Goldstone. Did they actually stop at the ground and where was the stop? No memory of this at all

No idea, it was in 1968 so in £sd and obviously not a lot.

I assume that the purpose of this thread is that PBOBE wants to celebrate us winning a trophy with a Good Old Days game, where we all turn up in vintage clothing and the price of admission and catering is at yesteryears prices.

Not sure I really want a slice of bread dripping, or a slice of deep fried spam.

No, they all stopped in Sackville Road on the north side of the Old Shoreham Road junction.

Probably 50p but then again, my Dad would have paid it, not me

Pretty sure that was the same for me - but my older cousin paid. I know that in 1978 it was 50p - because I used to wash my grandad's car in the morning for 50p, which got me into the ground.

Not sure but I think my season ticket for the East Stand in the early 80s, as a kid, was £50.

1986 or 1987 - £72 in the North.

Think I paid the same. I remember being outraged when it went up (to two bob; could have been two bob going up to half a crown but you get the drift). 1969.

30p from what I recall. Kit Napier was playing and he left in 1972, and so was Ken Beamish and he joined in 1972 which means it must have been 1972.

For some reason I've always remembered that at my first match Ken Beamish was wearing a signet ring. I only know this because we were stood directly behind the dugout box and Beamish rested his hand on top of it while he adjusted his boots on the sidelines, so his hand was only about 2 feet away from me. The vivid memory of Beamish's signet ringed finger has remained with me for over 50 years and is almost the only thing I remember about the first match I attended. I don't even remember who we were playing.

Got it. That makes more sense. Must’ve taken a few “busy bee” number 7s to get fans away in match days…those little mini buses on the Hove Station route

Floodlights were installed in 1958/9 - 1st season in 2nd Division.

My first game was in 1956 as a 12 year old. Great team! Seem to remember paying 9d (9/240=3.75p) would be about right if adult above is 2 shillings.
