How many supporters do Brighton & Hove Albion have?

Probably an impossible question to answer!

But if every Brighton & Hove Albion fan wanted to come to a particular game and were able to in a stadium with unlimited capacity (suspend reality for a moment!!) what numbers would we be looking at?

You can include every fan from every country worldwide. :)

It depends I guess, I recon there are a lot of casual fans like my girlfriend, who only ever sees Brighton play because I do.

who are the opposition?

if it's against Man U or Chelsea we will find we have a lot more fans

 This is true. I had no problems getting a ticket to see Wolves v. Swindon in the Carling cup earlier this season - they even had one of the main stands closed due to lack of interest, could I get a ticket to see them play Manchester United? Um, nope.

If you mean PROPER fans, they'd fit into the south stand at Withers easily.
If you mean everyone that supports the Albion in ANY way (even just looking at their results) probably about 12.

they were reporting on South(ampton) Today this morning that Saints to 50,000+ to Wembley yesterday....if that is accurate that is a phenomenal amount of fans.

I'd include everybody who goes to every game (fanatics) right through to those all around the world who look out for the Brighton results but rarely, if ever, go.

Are the all fans? Not really. Are they followers? Yes. I suppose it comes down to would they go to a game given the right circumstances (opposition, venue, importance of the game, cost, weather etc etc). If that's the basis then I'd say close to 100,000.

I would agree with TRHK. Being a fan is all about self definition. The will be many, many people that call themselves Brighton fans who have never been to a game. Nevertheless, these people will still, when asked call themselves a Brighton fan.

It is very hard to tell.

We already have a stadium that we can't fill to that capacity, so I guess there are about 6000 supporters. There may be more "fans" and those that say Brighton is their team, but they ain't supporters. Of course there are some outside the area who cant get to games, so make it 7000, that's yer lot.

Absolute bullshit. I could name you a dozen Albion fans, sorry supporters, that I personally know who can't bear going to Withdean and don't. I'm sure everyone can say the same. I go to far more away games than home, but when Falmer is built we will all go.
