No cos I'm not a ****.
I took the course in 1978 aged 16, did the lines in the Sussex County League and refereed two matches every Sunday morning in kids football before moving on to senior level.
Got twatted by a 'manager' after one game after his team had lost 13-0 and he took it out on me, so quit.

Coming from the bloke with 'andy d'urso is a wanker' under his username.
I passed when I was 15/16 too and ref'd matches. I'm not suprised they struggle to get refs. I'm basically a kid ref a kids match and the amount of abuse you get is a disgrace. It's not worth it. You just get people calling you "a f***ing twat" because you didn't see a foul or gave the throw in the wrong way. It's difficult and the rules are not that clear either.

I manage my sons U12 team and the level of abuse at times from some of the opposition is disgraceful beyond belief given the agesof the players and several parents really should be banned.
My boys are taught to accept the referee's decision whatever and those that do ever dare argue back get a severe reprimand from me and have been subbed.
We got a commendation last week from one team manger for our attitude and behaviour.
Manager's have a lot to answer for the team - it is simple discipline nothing more nothing less.

Refs make honest mistakes, players cheat, there is a world of difference between the two.
The problem lies at the top, FIFA and the national Associations turn a blind eye to the whingeing of managers and harrasment of officials by players. Referees in turn tend not (although the Wycombe sending off was an exception) to enforce the rules as they should because they want to get good marks from the managers to help their refereeing careers, so don't enforce the dissent/abuse rules. Kids follow what happens on TV, and too many parents have no idea how to be a role model when on the touchlines.
Compare football to rugby, which lets face it is a far rougher game, there referees get no verbal and any dissent results in the ball being moved forward 10 yards. How often have you seen that rule being invoked in a game of football, despite it being introduced onto the books a couple of years ago

I paid £50 to take the course and passed with 98% but with college couldn't find the time to ref any games.
Yes, I passed the test, and refereed for one season. Kids football is unbelievable, the abuse you get from the parents is obscene. So I quit. Still got my medal for officiating in the U16 Somerset County Cup Final though.
But then you won't see me slagging referees off on here, as I've said so many times, the only problem is consistency, and the RA/FA have got to do something about this.

i was going to take the course a few monthes back........ then saw the price's of the courses and the equiptment and said to myself "nah. i'll let sum other **** get some stick"

how old do you have to be to do the refereeing course?
You can normally enrol when you are about 14
