Even though Wilkins has shown no sign of any ability to manage a league club, shall we stick with him thru to League 2 or maybe into the Conference ?
I don't know many League 2 or Conference clubs that would be able to finance a brand new 22000 seater stadium and make it break even with attendances.

...I dont buy that one. He is operating under very difficult circumstances in that contrary to what noises are coming out of the club, it is obvious that we have NO money for players at all......

We have had three managers jump ship because of that...Coppel, taylor and Adams....Wilkins knew what he was letting himself in for, he had experience of this group of players......

If we were to sack him, then what.....whoever comes in must work under the same criteria.

This must point at the fact that until Falmer is built and financed, we cannot rely of any money being made available and better players coming in.

Just because a planning appl;ication has been sucessful, doesnt mean suddenly someone is going to come along with a couple of million for the team....even if they would, that would only support the debt for a year and a bit anyway!!!

What if he is, in fact, not really up to the job though Dave, how long do we stick with him. 1 win in 13 is really really really shit, whichever way you dress it up.

I am not convinced YET he is not up to the job.

If say DK says enough is enough after say the Millwall game when we havent won the two games ( Southend and Millwall) and sacks him....who in their right mind would come to this club? Gritt, Wood, Horton, Adams , Coppell, taylor, Booker for a while, Mcghee...all have been and gone

I personally think we have a poor squad, but are suffering from injuries to key players ( lynch and Hinch).

I think we cannot attract decent players - Forster took yonks to sign if I remember - currently and there is no suggestion anyone else will do so.

I still believe that we will have to put up with what we have for certainly this season and probably the next two.

We need to have some stability. We need good crowd support and we need some of our players to start to prove to us and the rest of the league that they are worthy of a place in the team...Cox, Robinson, Read etc - we know they have potential, but the time has come to fufill that potential now...enough buggering about...knuckle down and play our way out of this mess.

.

Nor am I but I'm getting concerned that he may not be. If we can get a point against Southend and stop conceding late goals I will be reasonably happy. Wilkins complains that the team switches off in the last 15 and has said this quite often, he needs to address it with subs or changes of formation as it seems that he doesn't seem able to Switch ON when we need it. How many inspired substitutions or tactical switches have you seen from him??

But when you listen to Wilkins after game whinging and moaning , all he does is slag the players for not doing as he asks them to do.
So either change the players or change the manager.

But is that the managers fault?

If the manager has a clear idea on how the game should be planned, works on it in training obviously, and in the execution, the players do exacltly the opposite, then surely the players must take some responsiblity......just to come out with the argument that as they players dont do it, then the manager is wrong, must mean that if someone else came in it would be the same outcome.

A decent manager wouldn't allow such a situation to exist, would Adams for example put up with players doing that ?

I'm quite suprised to see such a division in opinion actually. Didn't realise there were so many people anti-Wilkins.

Personally, I'm not concerned at the moment.

Crewe away was a tough start to the season and by all accounts we were rather unlucky not to get a point.

Tranmere are a decent side too and from I what I hear it looked like we'd get a point 'till late in the game. Hardly as if we've been resoundly beaten.

I think the likes of Hinshelwood, Lynch and Reid will strengthen us somewhat when they return.

Southend will be interesting game with them having come down from the Championship but I see no reason why we cant go out and beat them and then Millwall. I also fancy our chances at Gillingham and against Yeovil.

The season hasn't even started to take shape yet. We've got a fairly decent side, some good players too come back from injury. At the moment I'm pretty confident we'll be fine in mid-table this season. Hopefully everyone wont get on the players backs next Saturday. It'd be a shame to create a negative atmosphere around the club after just 3 games and two league defeats away from home. Wont do anyone any good.

....actually went to the game today?

They seem to know how we played, "shit" "abysmal" so you'd think they'd attended but it appears they're posting only minutes after the game has finished....

? One can listen to the radio you know.

And if the club doesn't stay in business because people like you won't support the club through difficult times have only yourselves to blame

I gave up my season ticket after 20yrs for the same reasons and i dont want some little shite like yourself heaping the blame on us when the team has been under funded for so long.....I will still support them and i will probably get a season ticket at falmer..and i've probably supported them through the most difficult time of all :tosser:

From the distance I'm watching from I tend to agree with this. I didn't agree with signign Wendy last season but he has done OK and I see nothing to panic about.... yet. Ask em again in three weeks.

Still think we've ballsed up not getting Bertin back when he queried.
