That’s not why people are get pissed off about though is it - it is when those cars make it difficult for people to get onto and off their own property or damn difficult to navigate round them.

If people want to own several cars then they should move somewhere that has residential parking (and pay the permit), wide roads or their own off road parking to accommodate all the vehicles in that household. One car is fair enough per household but to have 3 cars when you have no where to park them except on pavements (where it’s impossible for wheelchairs/buggies to get past them) or where they block the road in both directions is just selfish and inconsiderate.
Wow, has your unicorn got off its leash again? Yes, there is an issue where people park on the pavement or grass verges, but to say if you want more than one car, you've got to move to a mythical place where everyone has room is a slight stretch on most peoples financial realities

I live in a block of 26 flats, we have 5 parking spaces between us so it's sometimes tricky to get a space.
One neighbour has 3 cars, and he's the only driver in his household. He has one car parked in the carpark, one on the road outside and another around the corner.
When he wants to use the one in the carpark he'll swap it with a other one so he doesn't lose "his spot".
Thankfully we are moving next week and I'll have my own private space so I won't have to deal with this weapon anymore.

If I had my way (if I became dictator as part of a military coup), I'd tax the buggery out of London drivers, limit their speed to 5 miles an hour, charge them £500 a day to park, have a lottery once a week fining random motorists £50 (just because) and the ownership of a Range Rover (or similar) a criminal offence.

Compulsory therapy for those just thinking about it.

The money raised would be used to subsidise petrol in rural areas where people actually need a car to get by.

In fact you would only be allowed to own a car in London if you buy one for something in need in a rural area with rubbish public transport.

Lastly, I'd tell the cyclists they are bloody next if they don't behave.
So, why aren't you taking your tablets anymore?
(although I totally agree with the last sentence)

ULEZ.

Thank you Sadiq.
I've heard about ulez, but didn't know what it was...so I googled it...then I saw your user name and realised why you wanted to target london cabbies.
Serious question, who is sadiq? When I googled that, I got a nigerian footballer and a labour mp. Which one.? As a side note, apparently, sadiq means truthful or righteous......so it can't be the politician

Why would I want to target cabbies? I use them all the time silly man. They moan about EVERYTHING always have, uber just get on with it.

Clearly one of those non Londoners with a really really odd obsession with our Mayor. Bit like Trump.

Now why would that be.

mmmmmm.......
Sorry, I thought everyone hated taxi drivers, as they park where they want(or do round here)
As for the next bit, until two minutes ago I didn't even know who your mayor was and in a further two minutes I will have forgotten, because I don't care. I don't know who the mayor is for brighton and Hove!(or care)
I don't do politics

Interesting but you don’t explain how London tradesman are meant to get to jobs with passing on huge fees to the customers. Water pissing into your kitchen and your plumber lumps on £500 plus for parking. You haven’t thought this through.

Lots of 3 and 4 car families being mentioned. It seems the cost of living crisis is well and truly over.

Why do plumbers need a van?

No matter the reason for the call out they never have the needed part.😁

Next door neighbour has car plus van for work which is perfectly reasonable.

What is not reasonable is that he wants them parked in “his spaces” (road is free to park in except for one hour residential permit per day). Obviously his second space is outside our house. I’ve seen the enormous bellend move the van to outside ours from exactly opposite, move his van forward two spaces and organise a swap space between his car and van with his wife.

Dickhead.
We now have people who live about half mile away dropping off cars and work vans overnight or for whole weekend as they have one space per flat. 2 bed flats often have 4 residents with 4 or more vehicles. All have nice empty bike racks though!

Quite lucky in my close as everyone has decent size drives, but I notice many roads locally where I work seem to have plenty of parked cars during the day, many more than 10-15 years back.
I do see a fair few houses that have a caravan or camping van on their driveway but their cars parked outside neighbours houses.
What I find odd is when I see a house with sometimes 2 cars on a driveway that probably haven’t been driven for several years and should really be scrapped, these homeowners usually have a few roadworthy vehicles parked in the street.

I've very much thought this through and have friends who are tradesmen.

£500 for parking? Don't be silly, that's a call out fee for a dodgy South London plumber.

I haven't the time here to publish my full manifesto, but as you ask.

They would be exempt from parking and congestion charges, would pay less for fuel and their motor vehicles but most importantly would be exempt legally from nudging a non tradesmen out of a parking space and into the road.

Getting a tradesmen round is a complete f***ing ball ache for ME not them. I HAVE to apply for a parking permit in my name unless they won't / can't come round.

As far as I'm concerned they can park where they f***ing like and urban Land Rover drivers (like opposite me) can f*** right off.

Seriously you have NEVER seen such a clean Land Rover. I'm seriously thinking of coming home to pick up some cow shit I can rub on its tyres.

Thinking about it, I wouldn't allow that individual to drive his Land Rover unless it was part of the terms and conditions his radio was hard tuned to LBC, to at least give him empathy towards his common man (*)

(*) or woman.

(I edited this from many friends who are tradesmen, because frankly I live in London and have very few friends full stop)

This is the kind of common sense thinking that’s sadly so missing in politics today. I’d vote for you (if that didn’t undermine the bit about a military coup and a dictatorship).

Did I mention not keeping to the left at train stations or ignoring escalator etiquette in London ?

Cyclists going through red lights, compulsory life sentence.

One neighbor has 5 cars plus a motorcycle.

The neighbor across the street has a 4 cars but since he is a Lake County Deputy Sheriff one of the cars he has is owned by the Lake County Indiana Sheriffs Department.

The other neighbor has 6 cars.

This may reflect on the fact we live in a rural area with no public transportation in our neighborhood.
