They make the Wurzels sound like Led Zeppelin.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

When you see who they are grouped with, it pretty much sums it all up.

I LOVE the Doors. Riders On The Storm, When The Music's Over, The End, Unknown Soldier. Reminds me of an ex I had when the film came out. (No she did NOT look like Jim Morrison.)

Some of it is listenable - I don't hate them - just don't think they are worthy of the legendary status some people have bestowed upon them or him!

Much like Keith Moon then, except Morrison is a BIGGER legend worldwide :) (except the UK bit )
OI!

No-one knocks Keith Moon without being able to back it up. A drummer and showman of awesome repute underpinning and driving a mass of monster tunes in a way no one could have done before or no-one has done since. At least when he was stoned, he could still carry it off. A true professional, as opposed that utter waste of space conman Jim Morrison.

Inspired. I can do better than that sitting on the potty.

and I can sing better than Keith Moon.

The Doors did not gain legendry status for Morrison's poetry anymore than the Who did for Moon's singing, so I don't really get your point, other than slagging off a band that you obviously don't get either.

Start running then

People are strange when youre a stranger
Faces look ugly when youre alone
Women seem wicked when youre unwanted
Streets are uneven when youre down
When youre strange
Faces come out of the rain
When youre strange
No one remembers your name
When youre strange x3

The Doors were an excellent band. I knew about them and had heard a few of their songs before seeing the film and liked them then, but after seeing the film I got all of their stuff and realised that they were amazing.

I remember one Tuesday night down "The Event" in the very early 90's when they done shit loads of Doors songs, probably the 2nd best night Ever down there in terms of music and atmosphere (the 1st being the week after Freddie Mercury died when they had a Freddie tribute night)

'Streets of London' has more depth than that. :nono:

Oh well if teenage angst and /or headbanging is what you want from your music, I guess I'll leave it :)

One - provided they can be bothered to get out of the bath.

35 years ago today Jim Morrison died. Vastly over-rated group in my opinion - a fairly standard west-coast blues group with a decent organ player who managed to inspire a handful of decent songs. As for Morrison's 'poetry' - f***ing stroll on, per-lease.

Definitely a triumph of marketing over content.

Like several 'famous' people dying made them bigger than they deserve, Janice Joplin has to be a prime example.

Granted we miss the likes of Lennon, Hendrix and Lynott though.

Thinking of other threads on this board about old groups all I want to say is that the Doors were MUCH better than the Eagles!
