Strange logic, leaving the eu and years of uncertainty is surely going to have a greater effect on business

More than capital flight ? Unfortunately not. It’s fine to squeeze the rich in theory but let’s not pretend capital won’t leave the country. This just needs to be weighed against the current inequality. I would prefer that Labour were honest that there will be a smaller pie to share around. They would get my vote but I suspect not many others so instead there is the pretense that the super rich will somehow pay up.

I, too, have lived through 4 labour prime ministers and would prefer ANY of them to the current bunch of clueless and moronic lying toerags who would be returned to government by a conservative majority.... which I will fear will happen. Do you actually believe anything that Johnson says?

Not your normal type of posting -have you been drinking?

The abusive, insulting and intolerant behaviour shown by you and some others on the left during the last few months and the election campaign has been nothing short of disgraceful. You deserve nothing but contempt, and a Tory victory will make it so much sweeter were it to occur.

Abusive and insulting behaviour like constantly questioning someone's mental health just because you don't agree with them? "Get an appointment" wasn't it (and boy, were you owned with the reply :lolol: ). Abusive and insulting posts like equating Jews with Scousers and claiming that graffiti on synagogues isn't anti-semitic? Intolerant behaviour like making a "hilarious" meme of a teenager and applying it to all young people in the UK? That sort?

But there can be very, very few people who have any sort of inside track on any meaningful data yet...

- Exit poll data collators. Presumably this stuff is fed back at various intervals to allow modelling to take place.
- Postal vote counters, although these will only have access to a very small sample.

Postal votes are kept face down at all times until they are added to the verified papers at the count. There is no way to get an indication of the way things are going.

Laura K’s comment certainly suggested someone knew something.

No, strangely. Just bewildered, and anticipating being semi-suicidal before the end of the evening.

I just fail to see how anybody can have any confidence in Mr Johnson to achieve anything. I would make no secret of the fact that I don't particularly want BREXIT to happen, but I have absolutely no confidence in him to achieve anything worthwhile, and don't believe any of his promises.

I've never abused or insulted anyone.. You live in a fantasy that whenever you lose your rag with someone else's opinion, all of a sudden it's intolerant behaviour by others. People can see what you're about Woody. I barely fall out with anyone, even the likes of JC Footy Genius and others who hold completely opposing views it never descends into anything but discussion. You on the other hand fall out with anyone that doesn't share your outlook on life. The contempt you feel is because you are unable to hold any kind of discussion with an opposing view. You have resorted to the insults, the abuse and the intolerance, not just to me either, it's all over the boards. It really is quite sad as you don't realise how many people can see it.

A quality, intelligent post.

Well remembered ... the spite and venom against people from other parts of the country (on football threads).

I saw that. In all the times I’ve done it there is no way anyone involved could have had any idea of the way voting was going:shrug:

@%1;

Hopefully enough to ensure Corbyn resigns and takes his extremist Marxist mates with him. This will empower the decent moderate labour mp’s to restore the Labour Party to the way it was under Blair and brown and make labour much more electable in the future.
I sincerely hope so. Labour has a sad history of choosing unelectable prime and cabinet ministers.

He'd have to, wouldn't he?

He'd have presided over two losses within two and a half years. One defeat was against an opponent who ran one of the worst (if not, the worst) election campaigns in history.

The second defeat, if it happens, will be against an absolute buffoon of an opponent who lacks any credibility at all.

Beyond that, if the Tories achieve a reasonable working majority, Corbyn will be 75 by the time the next election comes around. Whilst I'd love to have his energy when I'm that age, I'm not sure 75 is the age to commence a stint as PM, even if he was somehow able to lead Labour to a win next time round.

If JC does badly tonight, whilst he is not without many flaws, I'd point the finger primarily at the deeply selfish, nationalistic, unkind general public and people that voted Johnson in.

Boris Johnson.

The man who avoids challenging scrutiny, refuses to answer question resorting to his advisors simpleton sound bites so effective in the USA, states inequality is essential, serial womaniser with multiple affairs, a man who won't say how many children he has (just who ****ing gets away with that in everyday lif3 let alone PM), repeatedly lies to everyone, racist, misonignist. A man who does not care about anyone other than his own personal gain. The Tories are the most successful and efficient political party in history. Did they really have to stoop to the lowest.

Either outcome will not be good for this country tonight, imho. In hindsight, we were far more centrist and moderate from 1997 to 2016. I preferred that in every way. Then political zealots with a blinkered take on everything, somehow managed over a period, to take control of both main parties. Not a uniquely UK thing, citing the rise of Trump.
