It's a valid question, no need for banning. If we kept losing playing
Football like this it would have to be considered if it really can be done. I think the time to reconsider our play style is further off than even the end of this season though.
Personally, I think we need more time before the team are regularly winning again and I'm happy to see us doing well and losing like we did against West Ham as long as I can see us improving our game along the way.As it stands, that is what is happening so I'm happy with things now. This is a long term game plan and one that I have faith in. We probably won't be in the premier league before West Ham get back there, but I don't doubt that if we keep getting better and working on this style slowly, it will reap the appropriate rewards in time.
West Brom probably thought that this was a silly question to ask about Di Matteo last season, yet if they hadn't have got rid of him they could quite feasibly have been looking forward to a trip to The Amex this season
Personally, I wouldn't want to let him go even in the unlikely event that we were staring relegation in the face. Tony Bloom, having spent so much money and concerned about the drop in business should we end up going back to League One, might have other ideas though
To put it another way, if Gus decided he didn't like the new pie fillings and quit today, I imagine he would be in the top three bookies favourites for the Leicester job (who are the big spenders of the division, by all accounts).
To be honest, that would never happen, but if it did I would keep him. He is one of the best managers ever for this club, and even if we got relegated I'd keep him.
I don't want him to go, and had not even considered the question. However, if he insists on doggedly sticking to the tippy tappy football at the back in particular, and simply refuses to execute his stated Plans B & C he has talked about, or get players able to execute his plans, then I guess TB will have to consider the question at some point.
I am sure Gus is a pragmatist, and will not allow things to go that way though. He is already showing a greater determination to get the quality of players he needs to play the game his way. Which is good, if a little belatedly as the transfer window is shut.
