Around the twenty year mark if we get that far as I am sure a future government of one colour or other will be elected on a mandate of another referndum and many of those who origionaly voted leave will themselves have left and the next generation will take us back in.

It's the cost of all this that's to me the biggest problem every financial institution is predicting growth will be slower leaving and we will all be poorer

Less than a week ago - on 21st November 2019 - the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement went 'live'. Who knew?!

On 1st February 2019 the EU and Japan Economic Partnership Agreement entered into force. It's scrapped tariffs between the two blocs. It is the largest open trade zone in the world with 635 millions consumers. Japan is the third largest economy in the world.

The UK is walking away from both of these Agreements to adopt punitive WTO terms, so if you're competing with a German firm to export stuff to Japan or Singapore good luck with that.

As a Lib Dem I am angry that my party has not blown out of the water this key pillar of Brexit that by leaving the EU we suddenly become "Global Britain". We already ARE global Britain, and the longer we stay in the EU the more global we get, courtesy of these deals.

Given the average trade deal takes 7-10 years to conclude, will we have any industry left to benefit from whatever pittance of a deal we can start to implement in 2030?

We are, of course, delighted for you.

It’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good, and while I’d have preferred there to be some Brexit benefits for us in the U.K. (as instigators) - it’s good to know that mainland Europe is reaping some benefits as our nearest neighbours, and the countries we are most closely aligned with in terms of our core values.

Ireland and Amsterdam are also thriving, and it’s nice to see others doing well even when we are mired in a mess caused almost entirely by governmental incompetence, intransigence and outright corruption.

I’m optimistic that over decades we can and will rebuild our nation and its reputation, but that does largely depend on the people of Britain understanding what our Conservative Party has become and withdrawing their vote from them. Time will tell.

Brexit’s ill effects aren’t going away, but it doesn’t dominate just now. Hopefully anti Starmer Labour members/MP’s won’t use the subject as a way to disrupt his first term (pushing for an immediate referendum) when he’s going to have an awful load of cr@p to sort out.

But that's kinda my point. He didn't 'Get Brexit Done' at all. Not even badly. It's still on the 'to do' list, as evidenced by all sorts of things that are still be sorted/finalised.

Brexit is never far away from most people's political thoughts, and until we are at least more closely aligned to the trade block on our doorstep, that will continue to be the case. I wouldn't be voting for Labour because of it, except the FPTP system kind of means I have to if I want the Tories out. I'm not alone.

Had we moved to a EFTA style arrangement from the outset (as Gove suggested would happen/lied), we would all be getting on with our lives by now.
