Some days it's 9am - 1am, get a two hour break around 3, but does mean I'm on call and have to go back. Other days it's 11 - 3. Woo hoo!

Including travelling and the work itself 0645 to 1745 pretty good really. If I get the train 0720 to 1710. The train/bus is delayed about 5 times a year.

Used to do the commuting to London thing in another life (for 17 years!!) and on a good day was out of the house for about 13 hours. Now it's an easy 40 minute drive to and from work meaning typically leave home about 8am and back around 6. Never going back!!

I thought you was moaning that you don't get it. NO ONE should get it. YOU chose to go to College, so why should you get money for it? (not aimed at you).

Tax Dodging :tosser:

So many of my mates done 2 years at college and have gone into a job they could have got before the 2 years at college. Why bother?

Even degree's aren't hardly worth as much anymore, as people are getting them left right and centre! Expirence over a Degree(s) . Plus, what the f*** are them hats about you have to wear when you 'graduate' ??? - plus the 20k + debt you end up in afterwards.

Rant over. :tantrum:

ooh look at me! University of life blah f***ing blah

evryone should have a right to be able go into further education, and perhaps the original poster is going to college with specific training in mind. He could be studying to become a doctor, how the f*** do you know? :tosser:

I leave about 6.30 and get home about 17.00. I could leave an hour later but I much prefer to give the firm an hour of my time so that I can be ahead of the game without any stress.

The post was just about respectable until the part about degrees, and after that point I'm afraid it becomes complete bollocks.

One of the reasons I want to do a degree is to learn more about societies past and present, to have stimulating conversations with others similarly passionate and also to learn transferable skills which will be useful for many walks of life. I'm not going to lie, I'm also really looking forward to the social aspect, and the fantastic oppurtunities and facilities which will be available to me.

Your misconception is a common one: that everybody who goes to university does it for the sole reason of making themselves more employable. Many do, but for the majority of students academic learning is also very important. I appreciate that doesn't fit your 'ooh look at me, I didnt go to College and I'm doing alright and thus University is pointless' agenda, but frankly it is the truth.

If you're happy doing a 9-5, unqualified job all your life then thats fine, nobody should have a problem with that. However I'd appreciate it if you didn't make gross generalisations about studying at University and the satisfactions it brings to many, something which frankly you know very little (if anything) about.

Typically about 7-8 hours a day at the coal face but crucially no commute as my office is at home.

'University of life' types, usually the biggest and thickest gob-shites around. They will usually tell you they call a spade a spade as well.

On an average day when working from home, 8-6, but can extend to 9pm when on a deadline.

When out on assignment: from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep, but I love my job, so it's not a burden...

Yeah i know its getting scrapped, but they still got it this summer, sorry should have made that clearer. I dont blame people for taking it one bit, i would if i could, but as you say its stupid that people with divorced parents can get it. Added to the fact that those who dont get it effectively have to work 7-10 hours a week for the same amount of money (if you add up £30 a week + 2 x £100 bonuses), thus losing time to do your college work.

7-10 hours a week is nothing. I get EMA (Although i've still not handed back my agreement yet...) and have a 4.25 an hour job. i get 17 quid every 4 hours.
