...before the Withdean crowd turn against him?

Now, I know half of you are going to respond "f*** off you miserable wanker" without reading this, but I shall continue anyway - any interesting answers are appreciated.

A quick outline of past events:

McGhee - very unpopular with supporters after a fairly pathetic relegation from the Championship...seemingly only a serious title charge was going to turn supporters opinions of him, and after abuse at Bristol City when we were mid table (ish?) the man was gone.

Wilkins - popular with supporters, but many (although probably not a majority) turned against him after a second season of fairly negative tactics and ordinary results (although these picked up fantastically well at the end of the season).

Adams - the wilkins fans bitter at his treatment were probably a bit too ready to get on his back...however, we were absolute f***ing SHIT under him, and I think he'd lost the majority of the crowd by the end of November.

Now, expectation levels are probably lower this year, and Slade was an appointment nobody could really argue with, even if his track record of getting teams out of leagues is shit.

So far though we've had a bit of a shocker of a summer, stadium aside, and there already seems to be a whiff of discontent in the air (and it's not only from me). We've got no players, nobody wants to join us and our best ones want out. And this is with what people are guessing is a biggest transfer budget than any Albion manager has had in years.

If performance/results were to mirror last season, for example, would Slade get more time because of his popularity? Or would the Albion support turn on him, as we love to do?

Considering the shambles that was last season, I'd be happy with anything better than that this year. It shows progress and anyone expecting us to just buy our way out of this league is a bit deluded IMO.

I don't think your being a miserable wanker by raising this point. I hate to say it but I feel if we are anywhere lower than midtable at Christmas the vocal minority will be calling for his head.

I just want us to hold our own next season, no more 4 nil home defeats or 9 man Walsal situations, if we can finish the season 15th or higher i will be more than satisfied with Slade first full season.

Sorry pal, but "f*** off you miserable Wanker" is the only thing that comes to mind when you start a thread like this. I am not even considering "how long Slade has got" it is not in my mind, and it really shouldn't be in anyones heads. People like you start these threads purely to get a reaction, just like this, to make yourself feel noticed. Well done, you have succeeded. Dick.

I'd imagine the fans will only turn against him if we start to head towards the bottom 4 at an alarming rate the other side of Christmas a la Adams. Something i think thats unlikely to happen.

If we dont beat Leeds , Southampton , Charlton and Millwall in that 4 match spell in November there will be calls for him to go.

I think it is a reasonable point. We have had to endure some pretty poor football ever since we survived on the last day of the Championship, despite some rousing performances and one decent league finish on the way. People are fed up with Withdean and people are fed up with paying high prices. The manager is the likely scapegoat on matchdays. I should hope that we can find a little bit od patience and give Slade a chance to build on his decent start.

The trouble is, we finished off last season and one of the form teams and the crowds will automatically expect a title/play off charge.

Seconded!
Just a few weeks ago the guy was held as a hero by fighting of relegation and was mobbed by fans.
Now with over 6 weeks to go before the new season starts, this twat starts a thread about how long has he got before fans turn on him.

WE DONT NEED FANS LIKE YOU. So f*** OFF.

That's what I was getting at. I think the fact that prices are staying the same (stupidly high) combined with the good finish will mean he is under a fair bit of pressure to deliver.

Perhaps 'how much pressure is Slade under from supporters' would be a better question, but to be honest, i could have called the thread 'Russell Slade should be president of the United States' and people would have still called me a negative prick.

He doesn't want him to go, theres nothing going on so why not start a thread? My optimism has fallen since Murray's transfer request and the whole whing saga. You should know brighton fans are fickle like that if things don't improve. WW's negative but doesn't deserve all the abuse.

Yes, and so was Tommy Fraser.................but there's been a few harsh words about him on here since.

I think RS has to keep us in mid-table - if we are flirting with relegation by Christmas, I think "f*** off you miserable wanker" will start to become quite commonplace on here.

It is funny how (the majority?) our fans always have such high expectations. Surely supporting Brighton for x number of years should teach you not to bet your house on the team.

I am getting quite excited about next season. Started off very well (even with a rare away day to Southend), but haven't been to a game since Boxing Day. I am dying to see some fist pumping from Mr Slade.

If you are doing Brentford. Get off at Barnes or Barnes Bridge and sup some beers/cider at The Sun Inn and Ye White Hart.

Mr Slade is on holiday, lets see what happens when he gets back.I never abuse any other Albion fan on here but i have made an exception this time, ffs there is over 6 weeks to kick off and you should be optimistic.
Just think back to the mid nineties or even a few wewks ago when we thought we were relegated.I think you and WW are the fickle ones.
