Glass Case of EMOTION
Well, just been to a property to take it on, and this woman, fairly fit, had a tortoise in the flat...she said its pretty cool to have and a great conversation piece...

So, I've come back to the office and pondering getting one, thinking how hard could it ACTUALLY be...they just chill out most of the day which would fit my lifestyle, the only drawback could be that they are at "foot level" meaning that could be stood on etc, but I figure theyre fairly hard things, so wouldn't cause too much pain...plus, i'd have to think of a name, not clyde, because everyone knows that only orangutans can be named clyde, but i'm thinking of steven, steven the tortoise...

Does anyone have a tortoise or any experience with the shelled kind ?

Easy, but they do crap everywhere.

Like everything about a tortoise it tends to be quite a slow event.

When they do it on the move, you'll end up wiping away something the length of an aircraft trail.

They hibernate in the winter. So you can't keep your heating turned up too high or you'll wake them up (so I've been told anyway).

You have to prepare them for hibernation as well. Unfortunately they don't tell you they are going for a kip and will be back in couple of months.

The tortoise = an ideal pet for the economic recession.

They last forever, they don't take up much space and just one lettuce is enough for a month!

Got a couple very easy to look after, few weeds from the garden or some fruit as a treat once a day fresh water and bobs your uncle. Quite expensive though especially if you want a fully grown one.

That wouldn't satisy our tortoise, it's eats like a horse.

Unfortunately it will only eat lettuce and turns it's shell up at fruit etc...

Also partial to the odd dandelion leaf....

Did you f*** her then???

No, reason...............you are a smarmy, use too many hair products, shiny suit, fat knot in your tie and scared her by wanting to stalk her over an animal.........weirdo.:nono::nono:

By the seaside in West Somerset
I have a friend in Hong Kong who keeps terrapins in her shower
(she takes them out when she wants to use it!).

Easy to keep.
Not the most interactive of pets though.
