The present government must be held to account and questioned.
.

And likewise those asking the questions of the Government during a pandemic, ie across all the media and idiots on social media such as twitter and Facebook and also trolls saying the Gov is carrying out Euthanasia should also be held to account and questioned if their stance is questionable or overtly politicised.
There are too many unhinged individuals politicising nearly everything during COVID because they have an existing agenda and when the interests of the country and the global community would best be served with impartial constructive criticism instead and not pointless agenda driven moaning. This is a global pandemic, its not all about us.

It sounds very noble doesn’t it, until it affects you personally. Forget the agenda and look at people. Not numbers, but people.
By accusing people of politicising it, you are doing just that, politicising it.

Trumpesque attempt at deflection, have a long hard look at yourself and be ashamed.

Trump would announce we have the best PPE, the very best PPE in the world etc.

A nice sweeping statement, seemingly aligning those with cause to hold the government to account with conspiracy theorists.

You don't think people working with covid patients are entitled to expect protection and if they don't have enough of it, they should shut up rather than press for more?

I can count 8 people, 9 if you include the person holding the camera. Not exactly the Brixton riots is it.

Have you considered many are busy risking their lives at work?

You can double that number, anyway, and say 16-18 following Gov guidelines that one pair of gloves counts as 2 items of PPE.

Not to mention that they are social distancing. Christ people really don’t like key staff complaining about the lack of life protecting equipment in their workplace do they.

Completely irrelevant to the complaint: Why hasn't this made the news/papers/MSM?

There are people on that twitter thread claiming a BBC conspiracy. It's as if lack of PPE hasn't been all over the news for the last 2 weeks

Good point. We'll all move on and tell the whinging ninnies to shut up and get on with it. This is a time for national unity.

Straw man arguments.

My personal opinion for the record: PPE has been a cock up, of course they're entitled to protest. For balance almost every county has struggled with PPE because of the demand.

8 people with a banner isn't enough to make the news or papers.

Would you like to share your opinion on why it didn't make the news or do you want to continue making up stuff that I haven't said so you can have an argument?

There’s been plenty of posts on here and in general regarding staff members coming out and protesting over lack of PPE. I apologize for directing my post at you but it’s getting a bit silly that those on the front line seem (to me at least) to be ignored or their opinions and concerns dismisssed.

It’s been a big thing on every news programme I have seen for over a month, with those on the front line commenting on it every day at length. Who is ignoring or dismissing their comments and concerns?

Dominic Raab in PMQs yesterday swiped the assertion that the situation was worsening aside with his usual amount of disdain.

This? Hardly disdain or swiping anything aside from where I’m sitting

Mr Raab replied: ‘On testing, we now have 73,400 test capacity every day – that is almost double from the point at which we were at the dispatch box last week. On daily tests carried out, the figure is now 43,563 which is up from well over double the 18,000 from the point at which we were at last week.’ He added: ‘Of course he’s right to say that the 250,000 target is still an aspiration, I’m not going to put a date on it.

Speaking in the Commons, Sir Keir pressed Mr Raab on getting PPE to NHS and other care staff, saying: “You’d hope that by now things would be getting better not worse.

“Yet a survey by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) published on Monday reported that one in four doctors are still not getting the protective equipment that they need."

He added: “Now I know that’s not where the First Secretary or the Government want to be with indications from the frontline that things are worse not better.

“But he must recognise this is a plea from the frontline. So can I ask the First Secretary what’s going on? And how soon can it be fixed?”

Mr Raab replied: “I take exception with him insisting that things are getting worse. not better. That is not true overall."

And he told Sir Keir.“There is no minimising or sugar coating any of those cri de cœur that he mentioned. I feel animated, inspired to do even better. But he needs to recognise on PPE that there is a global supply shortage and we’re doing absolutely everything we can to make sure that those on the frontline get the equipment that they need.”

The Labour leader shot back: “The First Secretary says he takes exception to what I said about things worsening.

“I’ve tried not on this to base anything on my own personal opinion because I don’t think that’s helpful.

“What I was quoting was the RCP, those on the frontline, so it’s not my view, it’s their view.”

No probs, no beef here!

I don't think they've been ignored or dismissed, Panorama was scathing, Piers Morgan has been on the attack over PPE, pretty sure the Times and the Mail did also.

Ultimately the PPE cock up happened before the pandemic when they didn't stockpile enough. For anything after that Hancock has been on a hiding to nothing because they can't make it or deliver it quickly enough.

Over 120k people died as a result of the measures that had to be implemented as a result of the last recession. The one that’s coming if the lockdown is extended is going to dwarf that. At what point do you make a decision on which problem is going to kill the most people?

Anyway looks like government are going with reducing the impact of recession and will take the hit on covid as things start to open up again in May.

Austerity, political choice, nothing to do with the Recession as such.

It's good to be positive, but wishful thinking I think. We'll only open up when it's safe to do so. I hope that's May, of course I do, but 26k+ deaths now so I can't see it myself.

I do think there needs to be a point where we look at this and decide whether we need to lift some protections for the vulnerable due to the economic effects. Because there is only so far you can go with this lockdown before deciding we cant carry on as we are and lift certain restrictions.
