Well that would be a happy coincidence, if he's back just in time to give some good news.

Just like the coincidence of his first public video after the illness being Easter Sunday.

Even if it sounds like I’m being cynical, I also acknowledge that it’ll probably work on the majority of the population, and Brexit showed that this team are pretty good at persuading people towards a particular message.

Pretty good? Cummings is a propaganda genius, he could make the majority of the Country eat their one shite if he wanted. Now that he is in control of SAGE, the science is going to be popularist and 100% behind Mr Johnson’s libertarian values despite the thousands of elderly & vulnerable lives that will be lost so that his Dad can get down the pub ASAP.

Yup, I'm no fan of Johnson but he is, without doubt, an outstanding communicator.

It said they had been at meetings, plural, and also involved in forming advice

Do you think they should have been?

i just dont think it matters much. the implication is they alter decision by their presence, i dont see 20 odd scientists are going to be swayed by a couple of spads. and as they werent, so its a non-story.

Of course it doesn't. I can't imagine those two particular Spads influencing anything, can you ?

Get a grip. The prolonged impact of restriction measures will have a far worse impact on death rates long term because of an economic implosion than the current disease. I for one hope tough decisions are made looking at the bigger picture and the benefit of long term society.

You obviously have a lot of experience of the power of Spads backed by their political masters

Dominic Cummings, Damian McBride and Alistair Campbell were absolute pussies if you knew how to handle them :lolol:

Not to mention the fact that Cameron, Balls, Clegg, Milliband and Osborne all got started as Spads.

Why can’t those people isolate and the rest get back to work?

People are losing jobs and businesses every day.

They obviously can but how? Let’s wait for the plan on how it is done, the government however, need to improve their shielding tactics as we’ve seen Covid-19 rampage through many care homes almost unchallenged.

Hugo, I agree with a lot of what you say but I do wish you'd say populist rather than popularist.
