West is BEST
The argument that there are too many variables to make comparisons doesn’t look too strong when you consider that COMPARED to most other countries, we had all the advantages. And we still came out the worst.

Stay alert ! What moron comes up with that? Did he stay alert when he was shaking hands with Covid patients?

I half blame the idiots that voted for this imbecile did you really expect anything different from a man that can hardly dress himself in the morning.

None of them give a straight answer to a question just don’t get why anyone would vote for any political figure from the current crop.

Do you include Starmer in that otherwise erudite elucidation?

I don't.

Don't you like the way they proudly announce a new record of tests done yesterday....over 120 thousand!! Suppose we should congratulate them for that. Well done.

44k of those were sent through the post so shouldn’t be counted until they are sent back but the Tories are absolutely desperate now.

Well I hope Johnson comes good assuming he stays in the job.

I was hopeful last Sunday he would finally show some leadership, but all we are seeing in more chaos and widespread confusion

Someone who hasn’t read the clear guidance on what we can and can’t do ? Agree Sunday was confusing......but the doc published is pretty comprehensive.

Someone shared good article on this yesterday.
In a nutshell the anti government protest groups used their influence to organise the population into not spreading the virus. Everyone took it seriously because they suffered a high death toll from SARS so the locals already had experience and knew what to do very quickly. Actual government weren't given much credit at all.

I still find it mind blowing how well they've done given the population density and the direct travel links to Wuhan.

Thanks for this. I find it more persuasive and more likely than the airport theory (which ought to be extended out into all 'non-places')

The incompatible - populist governments and human life...

View attachment 123606

We are paying a heavy price for being guided by lies and deceit

Just for accuracy, I think you mean right-wing populists, although Orban is an outlier here (that said, you can make an argument that he's morphed into fascism).
To substantiate this, have a look at Argentina, which is run by a populist government of the left-wing variety.

Yup.

But we had a number of weeks to prepare.

One of the things that the government learnt very well from the infections in South East Asia, Italy & Spain was how to protect the NHS. Sadly, their concern was not allocated in the same way to care homes who had patients moved into them (out if hospitals). You just can’t argue that in this area, the government hasn’t been a shambles. They did not prioritise the most vulnerable in our society.

Yup, all correct, but as to the emboldened sentence, this is also known as herd immunity

I’m pretty shocked that the poll has so far revealed that 12 people could rank the government’s effort as Good, Very Good or Superb.
That will be the Mouldy Boots group plus their second accounts.

no, sorry, his point was totally valid

not reacting to ongoing developments and "waiting 12 months" would be ludicrous

Do you honestly feel that people in the UK are 'not reacting to ongoing developments', or not in a way that you would prescribe?

What Boris will now struggle with is the border line racist and xenophobic that edged him into power in the first place. They are starting to turn.
