I was referring more to compulsory holiday pay, sick pay, work time directive, all the workers rights that UKIP want to get rid of. The Tories won't need much persuading to ditch these either if we are outside the EU.

I think you need to do some more research.

Such protection didn't help the 6m in the EU who have lost their jobs since 2008 and it won't help the millions in the EU (and UK) whose wages are falling and whose hard fought rights are being degraded.

In the UK zero hour contracts have increased exponentially in recent years and wages are continually falling, and it's worse in the EU. These are the economic facts. Countries that adopted the euro who need to be competitive in order to stimulate growth can only do so by cutting wages and costs associated with workers rights.

This is now, and it's a Tory wet dream. Only free market Tories will continue to justify it.

A somewhat distorted view of the real impact that directive has had - in any case get your teeth into this lot from the London Chamber of Commerce.

A number of EU Directives listed together with the UK legislation implementing them.

http://www.londonchamber.co.uk/DocImages/1154.pdf

Terrifying to see how much law making power has been handed over to the unelected European Commission isn't it?

You will note that the list you attached also includes EU Regulations, these do not have transposition legislation. This means they are not subject to any debate in member states elected parliaments.

How do the electorates get a say on this kind of stuff...............this list is just on employment law.

The Healthcare Worker Safety Directive. This requires hospitals in member states to stop using unprotected sharps thereby preventing thousands of Nurses, Doctors, cleaners etc. from being accidentally stabbed with contaminated needles. It required all purchasers who, hitherto, were engaged in a race to the bottom buying the cheapest and nastiest blood access devices to stop doing so and buy well engineered products that automatically re-sheath needles after use.

It's probably saved 1m nurses from having the trauma of blood testing for Hepatitis, HIV and other blood borne pathogens caused by them being stabbed with dirty needles when going about their jobs. How's that? Any use?

That's all well and good. But if we weren't in the EU we could just have easily drafted that legislation ourselves. As it is all we've done is pay someone to make our laws for us.

Absolutely resent UKIP. They claim to represent what We think as a country. When we argue with them they say "well it's what we were all thinking". Hell, they even quote World War Two as being the war which was fought to ensure Liberty. The liberty to afford those of all colour and creed to simply exist. Which is extremely ironic given that they seem to have an irrational, misguided hatred toward Jews, LGBT, Immigrants and Muslims.

They can piss off back into their festering gutter.

Love Britain Vote UKIP.

I voted for a common market not a federal state however we need to stay in as part of Europe for trade but we do need to sort out the benefit tourism and need to raise our minimum wages gradually in the UK maybe with more raises in the tax threshold and re look at national insurance for lower paid and we got to make it better to work than not. Be carful what you wish for before you vote for UKIP check all its policies not just its immigration ones.

The Uk was nearly bankrupt and we are still not out the woods yet remember the note Labour left the Con/libs at the Treasury no Money Left.

You really think so? The devices that prevented sharps injuries had been available for a long time with excellent efficacy research behind them. Trouble was they cost more so purchasers in the NHS refused to look at them.

Governments dont tend to legislate unilaterally if it's going to cost them more money to implement safety...unless they have to.

Iive been around the NHS long enough to know that nurses lives are not a massive priority for purchasing managers.

My wife's a nurse (and has been since 1985), so yes I know all about the low priority that nurses have. She'd get out if she could as her life has got progressively worse and worse and more and more stressful. And no, it's not all the fault of the EU!

But to answer your question: Yes I believe that if we weren't in the EU we'd have passed similar legislation - and we could fund it from the money we wouldn't have to pay in EU contributions. You can't prove otherwise of course which does make it a bit of a pointless argument.

I'm afraid it is highly likely that BMW and Mercedes would shut up shop in the UK if we left.

Why not as they can quite easily sell their cars in the rest of the EU; for example those thriving economies Greece, Spain, Italy......

Could have, would have, should have . . . . . . . . . . . . but didn't!

Which says rather a lot about the Labour and Tory parties ! What it doesn't mean is that we should tie ourselves to an undemocratic, bureaucratic and corrupt 'club'.

Yes, because we'd sub-contracted it out! There was no point in us making any of our own laws in areas where they'd be overruled by European directives. It would be an utter waste of time for all concerned. Far simpler just to implement the ones we are given.

Unbiased interviewer eh jeez, i thought for a minute he was going to attempt to pin McKenzie down in order to get the answer he wanted.

I think he just wanted an answer that made sense. Which Winston was unable to provide.

I think he provided the answer, he stated that he had not come across racists in the party, i suppose he needed to repeat it a few times though to get it into the interviewers head, obviously not the answer he wanted was it.

A :fishing: Expedition to see if anyone really thinks that Companies like BMW and Mercedes won't trade with whoever will pay for their products.

These people presumably think the UK out of the EU can and will be regarded as the new North Korea rather than one of the top 6 world economies?

I know you were fishing mate though I have to admit I did have to read it twice

to suggest that such companies could even contemplate such a thing is laughable in itself though more worrying is the knowing that some people actually believe this b*llocks !!

wow what a statement:facepalm:
cleverly put together by some soppy green nut job.

'A black hole for the ignorant to fall into' - John Lydon.

Leaving aside* the morass of well-documented bigotry of recent months; even the Hitler Youth song-singing past of Farage; even today's pairing in Brussels with a Polish politician even the French NF said was "too extreme", whose recent comments about hitting wives Farage has dismissed as a joke, and despite his Holocaust-denials, Farage has said that he doesn't "appear to be extremist"; despite Douglas Carswell (Clacton by-election winner) wanting to privatise the NHS, cut taxes on the rich, cut benefits [to the poor]; despite all this, if you're willing to give UKIP even the time of day, if you're thinking that all the other parties have failed you and that in order to protect yourself from an impending torrent of EU-sponsored immigrants, to give you your country back, you'll have to vote UKIP, then I suggest you are indeed ignorant. And if not ignorant, then stupid.

*but you can't really, can you.

the trouble with folk like you (and you aint alone) is you clearly lack sense of humour, everything you hear is taken out of complete context.

you and others like you have been brainwashed by the bbc/ media/establishment by ways of propaganda to an extent you haven't even realised it.

they've indoctrinated you so much so that you no longer have a mind of your own.

the pc brigades game is all about digging up slander and aiming it towards anyone who isn't seen to be part of the status quo, lets get this right if im not mistaken lad that is fascism and definitely not the kind you interpret fascism to be.:tosser:

plus you mention carswell and the fact that you think he's in favour of privatising the NHS which proves you obviously haven't read up on UKIPS manifesto or if you had you wouldn't have come up with that conclusion. media as always put their usual spin on things and the likes of you always take the bait.

finally pal I don't mean to be patronising when I say this but I pity you and others like you. you are all lost causes.:p
