The evidence from New York (now being followed by other Cities) is that zero tolerance policing and punishment has an effect on reducing all crime. .

Actually I thought the New York Zero tolerence effect had been pretty thoroughly debunked. Research has shown that the reduction in crime achieved in New York was roughly equivlent to the national decline and similar cities where no such policy was in force.

Well there's no real chance of proving you wrong as I'm not going to give up my anonimity on here but you two are very funny indeed. I remember how funny it was 2 years ago and it really hasn't lost any of it's relevance.

I suppose it is the way of the world, the settlers, those who fall into jobs through no real choice or ambition, with no real interest in their work but merely work to try and survive and never get any real fulfillment out of their work except maybe the odd crappy bonus or payrise and a patronising pat on the head from their boss. Swallowing this existence day in day out for fear of their families abandoning them if the money runs out. I suppose there is merit to be found in it somewhere. If it makes you happy and you can scrape a few moments of fleeting pleasure out of your working day then I guess you could limp through till retirement.

Then there are those that grow a pair and forge their own life and thoroughly enjoy every second of their working life with a passion of which you could only dream Bushy.

It all really boils down to fear and envy, which is the modern condition among the less fulfilled elements in society (ie You).

Have fun down there.

I find it amusing that you have absolutely no, not the first idea who I am, therefore you have no idea how succesful an actor I am. I also find it a bit rich that you, a chap who is basically a sleazy city boy doing a wankers job, can pass any judgement on anyone else's career choice.

I know exactly what you do for a living and am happy to critisise it. You, on the other hand have no idea about what I do yet can't keep your gob shut. Sums up your type to me.

If someone could be arsed to Google an image of a Pringles carton and stick it on here, I'd be most grateful.

This argument about the USA is regularly used, I'd like to know how you measure the number of people that WERE deterred by the death penalty ?

Well the general opinion over there is that the death penalty is about retribution and not a deterrent, judging by the number of murders there that would seem to be true. You can't really say whether society of a century ago was more of less violent than now, mainly because they weren't quite so hot about keeping records then. However, bearing mind that Two Grievous World Wars not to mention all the other, much more documented Wars and atrocities that have happened in that time people's morals have changed.

Oh get over yourself mate. People wind you up not through jealousy but because you're a thin skinned muppet with an over developed sense of self importance.
