As it's a container lorry it is more than likely out of Southampton with a British driver.

Speeding is one charge, driving without due care and attention and dangerous driving etc etc.
Algie is racist as has been proved on other threads. His first post blamed 'foreign lorry driver'

As the facts emerge it appears that a breakdown truck carrying the mini bus ran into the back of a lorry.

Well according to NSC anybody anybody who mentions anything about a foriegner is a racist so that gets taken with a pinch of salt really. But to get back to the point I was referring to, Why are the police more lenient towards foriegn drivers commiting traffic offences than they are towards their british counterparts? Suerely it should be equal across the board?

Are they? Do you have facts and figures to back up that statement?

And speeding is'nt dangerous driving?

So you reckon you should lose your licence for 3 years for doing 34 in a 30mph zone?

3 years disqualification and 8 points for dangerous driving (not including a fatality) plus a fine.
£60 fine £43 costs for doing 34 in a 30 zone.

If you read my earlier post I've allready stated that I've witnessed it first hand, Fair do's I was speeding and got pulled in at a police road block and held my hands up to it but it pissed me off big time that the foriegn car ahead of me was waved through. It's not something that went unmentioned with the copper who booked me either.

We had the same thing happen to us in France. The gendarme smiled as he waved us through.

How would i know?I'm pissed.
Just out of interest Yorkie, does the 10% buffer above the speed limit still apply?

I liked driving in France, especially the fast bits where the speed limit was 130;)

130 kph as opposed to 130 mph you were possibly doing

Drove past this crash at about 7.45

Looked absolutely horrible... 6 people travelling up in the cab of the recovery lorry? Is that right? Seems a little crowded...

Shhhhhhhhhh;)

I still work with Imperial measurements, like PINTS, not litres, INCHES not Centimetres and when driving in France most definitely MPH;)

Just lately all our container deliveries seem to be by foreign drivers (including a little Chinese fella), mostly Poles though. Ours come from Tilbury and Thamesport though.

Seeing the pictures on TV it looks like its all on the hard shoulder, so possibly the lorry had pulled over and the recovery driver ploughed into the back of it. A good chance he was catching up on a little sleep. Thanks in no small part to the fact recovery drivers need no tacho so can drive non stop all week if they choose.

The lorry in the accident looks to be under 7.5 ton so would not need to have a tacho I believe (as long as it is recovering a broken down vehicle).
